Where do I RSVP?

Answer

Please visit zola.com/wedding/kirya-steph/rsvp to RSVP by July 14. On that page you will enter your first and last name, and should be able to rsvp for yourself and your guests (partner, family members, etc).

Why is your theme "Harlem Renaissance"?

Answer

We spent our first date talking about the Harlem Renaissance into the wee hours of the night. In the 1920’s Black Americans in Harlem sparked a movement that changed American culture. Many legendary Black artists & scholars made their name in this period. From our beginnings we were inspired by this remarkable history, so what better way to celebrate our wedding than in homage? In Harlem “rent parties” were the “it spot.” Black artists & intellectuals gathered to dance all night to the hottest jazz, while tenants collected some coins to pay the rent. Many got their start on the rent party circuit, proving that great art & great parties can emerge from anywhere with the right people are in the room! We’re thrilled to share our love of this history (& great parties) with you on our special day, & we hope you’ll fall in love with it a little bit too. Check out these links for more fun facts! WHAT’S THE DRESS CODE?

Cocktail dress. You're welcome (but not required) to dress for the Harlem Renaissance theme! Most importantly, we want you to feel comfortable, so if those shoes are too high or that top button is too tight, let it all hang loose.

True to rent party tradition, this will be a an "adults only" event where you can let loose for a while.

CAN I BRING A DATE?

Answer

The venue capacity is limited. If your invitation says “and Guest,” then yes, if not, we would prefer if it was just you.

Answer

The wedding venue, Akwaaba Mansion, is a landmark historic building. A temporary wheelchair ramp will be installed for the wedding. The venue's bathrooms are not ADA compliant. Please reach out to us directly (steph.kirya.wedding@gmail.com) if you have access needs.
