August 20th is Hungary’s biggest celebration—St. Stephen’s Day, honoring the country’s founding. It’s a cultural celebration that turns the city into a festival. Our venue and hotel are in the heart Buda, where the festivities take place! Hungary’s Fourth of July meets a cultural renaissance fair—with a side of pastry and fireworks. Historical Significance: Commemorates King Stephen I, who established the Hungarian state and brought Christianity to the region. Fireworks: At 9 PM, a fireworks show lights up the Danube. It's one of the biggest fireworks shows in the world. Folk Arts: Buda Castle hosts hundreds of artisans of traditional crafts, music, and dance. It’s a deep dive into Hungarian heritage. Hungarian Flavours: Riverside food stalls offer cultural dishes and flavors. Open Parliament: Parliament opens its doors to visitors (our venue overlooks the parliament!) Fun: Shows, concerts, and a magical kids’ zone in City Park (Varázsliget) offer free activities for all ages!
Szentendre: This quaint and colorful town is the perfect spot for a day trip (40 minutes outside of Budapest) to experience a true European village with Hungarian culture. You can arrive by bus or boat. Romai Part: This quaint Danube riverside spot is a great day trip option for swimming, lounging, grabbing local food, or even playing mini golf. Unique activity: Farmers markets are available on Saturday mornings! Reachable by public transport or bike! (MOL Bubi Bike rental) Vac: A riverside town 25 minutes train ride direct from the Nyugati train station! Best for cozy cafes, restaurants, hidden courtyards, and more.
