If not staying at Hiawassee River Retreat (only enough cabins for family), we recommend staying close to the retreat. The roads are mountainous and windy.
The Holiday Inn Express in Hiawassee is only 4.5 miles away. Other hotels are considerably farther.
There may be other rental options nearby as well through Air BnB or VRBO.

There are 12 cabins on site (with full kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, porch) which we've already reserved. Once we know who will be attending, we'll let you know individually which cabin to reserve (family of Kirsten and Mike and the Cashes only). To reserve your cabin, CALL 706.896.7400. Since we've already reserved the cabins, they will appear to be fully booked if you try to book online. We will arrive on Thursday, May 2nd and stay through Monday, May 6th. You're welcome to be there the entire time we're there, or even longer.
