Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail
This 10-mile trail that makes a loop through downtown Austin is the beating heart of the city. It features stunning views of the skyline and of Lady Bird Lake. It's also a great people-watching spot. Lace up your sneakers for a gorgeous walk.

This is one of our favorite places to go for brunch, but true to it's name it's open 24 hours a day if you have late night (or early morning) cravings.
Tumble22
A 2016 trip to Nashville sparked a love affair with hot chicken for Kimya and (especially) Alex. Tumble 22 has the best chicken in town, whether you get it wimpy or the off-menu hot level called "Joe Nathan." Try at your own risk!
Blanton Museum of Art
Right across the street from the Bob Bullock Museum is the Blanton Museum of Art. They have a great collection that includes classic and modern art, photography, installations, and the magnificent "Austin" chapel by Ellsworth Kelly.
Mount Bonnell
Mount Bonnell offers stunning views of Lake Austin and the surrounding hills. The hike up the stairs to the top might get you breathing hard, but the view will take your breath away!
Leroy And Lewis Barbecue
Barbecue is a big deal in Austin, and LeRoy and Lewis is one of our favorites. Not only is it run by dear friends, it has some of the best beef cheek around. Try the cheddar cheesecake!
Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center
The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is both beautiful and educational. Learn about—and see—flowers, grasses, and trees that are native to Texas. There are tons of walking trails on the grounds, too. April is really the best time to visit as spring wildflowers—including our famous bluebonnets—are in full bloom.
Jester King -- Brewery, Kitchen, Farm & Event Hall
On the edge of Austin and the suburb of Dripping Springs, this brewery produces refreshing and unique farmhouse ales. They also serve pizza and various other snacks and in a huge outdoor space that includes a hiking trail, a vineyard, a farm, and goats.
Paramount Theatre
Obviously, this historic theater is important to us as we chose it for the background of our engagement photos. We love going to see classic movies in the summer, but have also seen live music and stand-up comedy at this downtown venue. While it's hard to say whether they'll have programming in April, it's still worth it to stroll by!
Tacodeli
Austin is the land of the breakfast taco—you can't leave without having one. We love Tacodeli. They have multiple locations around town, and the tacos are consistently delicious. We recommend The Otto or The Jess Special.
