Alex and Kimya met in 2015. They had their first date in May at Garage Bar in downtown Austin. After drinks, they realized they wanted to keep talking to each other, so they walked to Easy Tiger to share a pretzel. They continued by visiting some of Austin's famous landmarks, like Waller Creek, The Driskill Hotel, and Sixth Street. There was something special in the air that night. The rest, as they say, is history.
In June 2020, Alex came home one night carrying flowers, ice cream, and a bottle of rosé. Kimya had a hint as to what was coming since Alex and Kimya had already picked out a ring together and talked to their parents. After grilling for dinner, Alex took a shower and came back in semi-formal garb, which Kimya thought was odd, as it was already 8 p.m. on a weekday. Alex brought out a shoebox he'd kept filled with memories of their dates—ticket stubs, wristbands, stickers, and more. They pulled out each item and reminisced, and underneath everything was the ring. Alex got down on one knee in their living room and popped the question. Kimya responded, "Nothing would make be happier."
