Things To Do

Northern Michigan has so many hidden gems and while you're up here, you might as well check 'em out! These are a few of our favorites in the area if you're making a trip out of it or even if you'll just be staying in town.
Dockside Torch Lake

Dockside Torch Lake

6340 Old Torch Lake Drive, Bellaire, MI 49615
, (231) 377-7777

This is the go-to place for anyone visiting Torch Lake. Sit outside and watch the boats come up Clam River and head out to Torch Lake while sipping on a local beer. Be aware that this is a hot spot and is usually hopping at all times of the day and night so prepare for a wait!

Sleeping Bear Dunes

Sleeping Bear Dunes

Glen Arbor, MI 49636

One of the most beautiful places to visit in Michigan and it's just an hour and a half from our cottage in Bellaire. Check out the vacation homes or campgrounds at Sleeping Bear Dunes for a night before or after the wedding!

Traverse City

Traverse City

Traverse City, MI

The cherry capital of the world! Traverse City is such a cute little town with plenty of good restaurants, breweries and wineries and sights to see right on Lake Michigan. Only 45 minutes from Bellaire and 45 minutes to Sleeping Bear Dunes!

Mackinac Bridge

Mackinac Bridge

Mackinac Bridge, St. Ignace, MI

If you want to travel a little farther north, check out the Mackinac (pronounced Mackinaw) Bridge! This bridge connects the lower peninsula to the upper peninsula, or... the Yoopers to the Trolls. It's a beautiful suspension bridge that creepily moves back and forth on very windy days. As a little kid, Mackinac was hard to say, so instead I called it the Mickey Mouse bridge :)

Mackinac Island

Mackinac Island

Mackinac Island, MI 49757

An hour and a half away from Bellaire, take a step back in time and visit Mackinac Island and get some delicious Mackinac Island fudge! Also from their website... Mackinac Island is the truly "all natural" theme park of America. Limited to transportation of horse and buggy, bicycle or foot, surrounded by water, it has escaped the vast changes of time. Its real Victorian image is preserved and enhanced by a small population of 500 permanent residents and scores of summer residents, maintaining bluff cottages in original state. Families, especially children, love their relatively new found "mobility", exploring the historic, natural beauty of Mackinac Island State Park, honored by National Geographic as one of the ten finest in America.

Charlevoix

Charlevoix

Charlevoix, MI 49720

Charlevoix is a cute little town located right between Lake Charlevoix and Lake Michigan. If you're going up that way, it's a great little spot to stop off at!
