Things To Do & Places to Eat

Here are some of our favorite local things to do & places to eat! Most of this is in Placerville, but we will add some options for those staying down the hill in El Dorado Hills or Folsom!

Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park

310 Back Street, Coloma, CA 95613
, (530) 622-3470

Coloma is just a short drive down the hill & sits along the American River. This is where the nugget was discovered that sparked the California Gold Rush! Historic sites - blacksmith, jail, etc.- cafes, gold panning & a great river view. Spots for picnics as well.

Apple Hill

2952 Carson Road, Placerville, CA 95667
, (530) 417-4887

Apple Hill is right up the street from our venue & town, and features several apple, fruit & pumpkin farms. Pick your own apples, buy fresh apple cider & eat fresh apple donuts. Visit the website for a list of locations & activities in Apple Hill.

Main Street in Placeville

Main Street in Placeville

Main Street, Placerville, CA 95667

Everyone should take a stroll down Main Street to get a taste of where we live! Antique stores, cafes, historic buildings, etc. Check out the pink lights in all the windows for Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout October.

Gold Bug Park & Mine

Placerville, CA 95667
, (530) 642-5207

Gold Bug Park & Mine is at the end of our street. You can take a tour inside Gold Rush Era "Gold Bug Mine," visit the gem exhibit, blacksmith & stamp mill, or hike on the trails while following a map of historic spots! This spot also has picnic tables along a creek & a gift shop.

The Bookery

The Bookery

326 Main Street, Placerville, CA 95667

This is one of Kim's favorite places ever. *GO THROUGH THE DOOR IN THE BACK LEFT CORNER OF THE STORE TO FIND THE REAL TREASURES* Used books at half of the original price. Kim has some 1800s prints of Dickens she found for $7-10 each!

Placerville True Value Hardware

441 Main Street, Placerville, CA 95667
, (530) 622-1151

COOLEST hardware store you'll ever see. They have EVERYTHING for all types of people. Great place for hangtown souvenirs.

The Farm Table Restaurant

311 Main Street, Placerville, CA 95667
, (530) 295-8140

Leyton used to be the chef at the Farm Table, & we still love to visit. Home-processed sausage, meat, pickled veggies, cheese platters, sandwiches at lunch & fancier food for dinner. Brunch on Sundays. Mimosas, beer on tap & wine. All food is sourced from local farmers. Call for reservations!

Heyday Cafe

325 Main Street, Placerville, CA 95667
, (530) 626-9700

Heyday Cafe has great food ranging from pizza to fancier selections, & a large variety of wine. I love to add a piece of salmon to their squash salad. This place is very small so call for reservations. Open for lunch & dinner.

Independent Restaurant & Bar

629 Main Street, Placerville, CA 95667
, (530) 344-7527

If you want a fancier cocktail made by mixologists or an upscale meal, check out this place. It's down the other "less populated" side of Main Street. They make a great Manhattan!

Amerikan Ichi

1234 Broadway, Placerville, CA 95667
, (530) 621-2100

If you're craving sushi, hit this place up for their all you can eat! It's bomb, the place is always packed so the fish is always so fresh. Ask for the secret menu item "tai tai" nigiri if you like spicy. 20 bucks for lunch & 30 for dinner all you can eat.

Old Town Grill

444 Main Street, Placerville, CA 95667
, (530) 622-2631

Bomb burgers served in gold pans... The chef/owner John is very nice & also owns the place where we're getting married. Love the tatonka burger & GET THE GARLIC FRIES.

Cozmic Cafe

594 Main Street, Placerville, CA 95667
, (530) 642-8481

Artsy, ethical food, coffee, juices, micro-brews, wine, cool place to hang out... There's an old mine in the back of the cafe that connects to the other side of the mountain.

Totem Coffee

312 Main Street, Placerville, CA 95667
, (530) 903-3280

Ethically sourced coffee, roasted in house... SO good. They also have a cool menu for snacks/breakfast/lunch, local craft beers on tap & wine, etc.

Fork Lift by Nugget Markets

3333 Coach Lane, Cameron Park, CA 95682
, (530) 672-9090

If you need to hit up a grocery store & you're staying in Placerville, THIS IS THE PLACE. Our favorite market & cheaper than the Nugget.

Nugget Markets

4500 Post Street, El Dorado Hills, CA 95762
, (916) 933-1433

If you're staying down the hill in El Dorado Hills this is your go-to market. Upscale & a really nice & cool place, has hot food & so much wine, local vendors etc. It's in the same shopping center as the Holiday Inn Express where we have the room block.

Selland's Market Cafe EDH

4370 Town Center Boulevard, El Dorado Hills, CA 95762
, (916) 932-5025

For those staying in El Dorado Hills, this is a great cafe for lunch, dinner or a glass of wine.

Early Toast Mimosa House

2023 Vine Street, El Dorado Hills, CA 95762
, (916) 934-0965

If you're staying in El Dorado Hills, this is the place for breakfast, brunch and/or mimosas. I LOVE their crossfit omelet (I think they renamed it but ask for xfit they'll know)... it has macadamia nuts in it YUM.

For all the days along the way
