Coloma is just a short drive down the hill & sits along the American River. This is where the nugget was discovered that sparked the California Gold Rush! Historic sites - blacksmith, jail, etc.- cafes, gold panning & a great river view. Spots for picnics as well.
Apple Hill is right up the street from our venue & town, and features several apple, fruit & pumpkin farms. Pick your own apples, buy fresh apple cider & eat fresh apple donuts. Visit the website for a list of locations & activities in Apple Hill.
Gold Bug Park & Mine is at the end of our street. You can take a tour inside Gold Rush Era "Gold Bug Mine," visit the gem exhibit, blacksmith & stamp mill, or hike on the trails while following a map of historic spots! This spot also has picnic tables along a creek & a gift shop.
COOLEST hardware store you'll ever see. They have EVERYTHING for all types of people. Great place for hangtown souvenirs.
Leyton used to be the chef at the Farm Table, & we still love to visit. Home-processed sausage, meat, pickled veggies, cheese platters, sandwiches at lunch & fancier food for dinner. Brunch on Sundays. Mimosas, beer on tap & wine. All food is sourced from local farmers. Call for reservations!
Heyday Cafe has great food ranging from pizza to fancier selections, & a large variety of wine. I love to add a piece of salmon to their squash salad. This place is very small so call for reservations. Open for lunch & dinner.
If you want a fancier cocktail made by mixologists or an upscale meal, check out this place. It's down the other "less populated" side of Main Street. They make a great Manhattan!
If you're craving sushi, hit this place up for their all you can eat! It's bomb, the place is always packed so the fish is always so fresh. Ask for the secret menu item "tai tai" nigiri if you like spicy. 20 bucks for lunch & 30 for dinner all you can eat.
Bomb burgers served in gold pans... The chef/owner John is very nice & also owns the place where we're getting married. Love the tatonka burger & GET THE GARLIC FRIES.
Artsy, ethical food, coffee, juices, micro-brews, wine, cool place to hang out... There's an old mine in the back of the cafe that connects to the other side of the mountain.
Ethically sourced coffee, roasted in house... SO good. They also have a cool menu for snacks/breakfast/lunch, local craft beers on tap & wine, etc.
If you need to hit up a grocery store & you're staying in Placerville, THIS IS THE PLACE. Our favorite market & cheaper than the Nugget.
If you're staying down the hill in El Dorado Hills this is your go-to market. Upscale & a really nice & cool place, has hot food & so much wine, local vendors etc. It's in the same shopping center as the Holiday Inn Express where we have the room block.
For those staying in El Dorado Hills, this is a great cafe for lunch, dinner or a glass of wine.
If you're staying in El Dorado Hills, this is the place for breakfast, brunch and/or mimosas. I LOVE their crossfit omelet (I think they renamed it but ask for xfit they'll know)... it has macadamia nuts in it YUM.
