It's finally happening!

It all started when Kim transferred to West Virginia University sophomore year, and her first night at school she was invited to a party at a house on Willey street. This house also happened to be where James lived and that is where the connection and historic love story started. First impression, Kim thought that James was the most handsome, smartest, funniest, goofiest, and nicest man she has every met - Rosie thought pretty similar things. James' first impression was that Kim had an incredibly warm presence, making him feel like he'd known her from a past life. Later in the Fall of 2014, at Tent City/College Gameday weekend, Kim and James realized that they were more than friends, but no one said we were known for our speed in relationships. They spent the year growing their connection and officially on May 16th 2015 they started dating and every day together has been a blessing since.

In 2016, after fostering Rosie while she was in the service dog program at WVU for 2 years, she officially failed out for the second time. James and Kim fell in love with Rosie from the first day they met her, but this officially gave them the chance to keep her for furever. They always said Rosie was not meant for the working life. To no ones shock, she did fail out of the program due to "hyperactivity and ball-obsession". This means Rosie has been a part of James and Kim's relationship since 2015. After Graduation in 2018, James and Kim moved to Maryland where they saved for their first home. Officially on April 17th, 2019 they closed on their first home in New Market, Maryland and have been there ever since. You'll find no shortage of photos, fantasy books, tennis balls for Rosie, games, and fuzzy blankets and we would not have it any other way. In May 2025, James and Kim celebrated their 10 year anniversary by planning a trip to Austin, Texas, which is now one of their favorite cities. This weekend became even more memorable once they got engaged on May 17th, 2025 by the water after a morning hike. They may have run out of water and it may have been over 90 degrees on that hike, but they could not have been happier in that moment to officially get to spend the rest of their lives together. They are fortunate that after 10 years, they love each other more every day and they always are looking at how they can spend more time with each other. They cannot wait for the next milestone.

Locally, James and Kim are passionate about playing sports. This was how they met a lot of their local Frederick, MD friends when they moved to the area. When we say passionate, James may be signed up for about 7 teams at times. It is a great way for us to be active, connect with friends, provides an outlet for our competitive side we both have, and gives a chance to drink a beer or two at times. James and Kim play volleyball and kickball together, while Kim supports James in his additional softball and football conquests. You'll also often find James and Kim watching football or soccer at their favorite Frederick breweries or oyster bar. James and Kim enjoy a long weekend trip with Rosie, and started going to Asheville, NC every year eventually renting the same cabin. This has become a family tradition that we look forward to every April. Hiking, beers, hot tubs, and goat yoga - 10/10 recommend. James and Kim genuinely love anything that involves spending time together and bonus points if it includes Rosie.
