Though we love the kiddos of our family and friends, we will not be accommodating children or babies during this event. Unless formally addressed on the invite you received, we politely ask that you take this perfect opportunity to enjoy a kid/baby-free, night off; have some fun being a big kid yourself as you enjoy the adventure farm!
Due to our attempt to have a more intimate celebration, we are not allowing +1's, unless formally invited on your invitation. If you are given a +1 "guest," it will be included on your invite envelope addressed to you.
This question may not qualify as a 'Frequently Asked Question' for a typical wedding, but I am sure it is evident by now that our wedding is very non-traditional, and anything other than typical, so it definitely qualifies as an FAQ for the Wittstock/Dwyer wedding! On the schedule included with the official wedding start time, we mention a "rubber duck turn-in." This is because your entry ticket to the wedding will be a rubber duck! Please bring any one rubber duck along with you to place on Kim's Jeep truck parked right outside the walkway entrance. We would love to see the most fun/kooky/creative/unique rubber duck that you can find, but we are not asking that you go to great lengths to stress about this, so if you are unable to acquire a unique rubber duck, any old rubber duck would work :) If you need any tips on where to find a rubber duck, they can be found usually at a typical Walmart, Target, Five Below, Party City, etc., and there is definitely an amazing variety of rubber duck options on Amazon or Etsy if you are wanting to be in the running for winning a prize for Kim & Steph's favorite duck that we will choose and announce towards the end of the night. If you would like to be in the running for winning this prize, we ask that you please put your name on the bottom of your duck with permanent marker prior to bringing it to the venue. If you are unfamiliar with jeep culture, individuals who drive a jeep, from time to time receive rubber ducks on our parked jeep as a token of best wishes & love. We wanted to incorporate this into our wedding day by asking that all guests bring a rubber duck as a fun "entry ticket" into the wedding venue and a symbol of love&support.
All food, snacks, drinks, and activities available at the wedding are free for guests and are meant to be enjoyed by all our invited guests. Although, we ask that you please consider bringing cash to tip the tattoo artist if you are planning on getting a tattoo at the wedding. In addition, please consider tipping the bartender if you plan on getting alcoholic beverages. There will be a tip jar out at the bar, but for the bartenders specifically, Venmo is a secondary option!
For all guests, even those who cannot attend, please let us know by Friday the 13th (of September) if you will OR will not be able to attend. You can RSVP via the designated tab on this website! Due to the importance in accuracy of this information and the direct impact it has on finalizing details of our big day that we have been putting our hearts into for not only ourselves but for all invited, we ask that you RSVP regardless; if you are planning to attend or not.
Yes! There is ample free parking available at The Gathering Barn! Upon arrival, there will be a sign directing you to the area designated for parking your vehicle. We do ask that guests please drink responsibly or make other arrangements/plans for transportation other than driving your own vehicle if planning on drinking throughout the evening. Because the venue is not in a typical "big city," Uber is not a reliable fallback unfortunately, so please plan to utilize our provided shuttle free for guests returning back to the hotels in Fort Atkinson. Leaving your car behind at the venue until the next morning is NOT an option, as there may be another wedding at the venue the following day, so we ask that you please be considerate of this. For more information regarding safe transportation, please refer to the "Travel" tab on this website.
Actually, no it is not! We have wedding favors that guests will be allowed to take home that are specifically meant for this purpose, and they are similar to the centerpieces in that they involve building with floral LEGO! In addition, there will be LEGO scattered around each table in place of typical confetti, and any of that is free for your creative use if you would like to build anything with those loose pieces and want to bring some home. So, we ask that you please do NOT touch or take anything from our centerpieces because Kim spent several months building all of them for the wedding day. As teachers, there are a lot of things we can do with these LEGO pieces in terms of the lessons & activities we do with students, so they will most definitely be utilized after the wedding day, and this is why we chose to spend our wedding centerpiece money on things that will be utilized for years to come opposed to only one day. We appreciate your understanding with this!
Our number one priority is to celebrate with our loved ones in an environment that allows everyone to have an overall fantastic & safe time at our wedding. In order to give everyone the opportunity to have this positive experience, we ask that you please be considerate of the following rules/expectations: #1) NO VAPES/VAPING, AND NO SMOKING OF ANY KIND WILL BE PERMITTED on The Gathering Barn property - This is not only our personal request that we are asking you to be respectful of, but it is a requirement given to us by the venue owners directly. Vaping/smoking/drugs are against the rules of The Gathering Barn and any individuals who do not follow these rules will be escorted out by venue staff per their protocol. Partaking in these kinds of activities at the wedding is harmful to the animals that roam the property so please consider the potential risks involved.
#2) NO HEELS OR POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SHOES - Please refer to our attire tab if you need some inspiration on what kinds of shoes are acceptable on the grounds of our venue. The Gathering Barn has asked us to strongly suggest that even guests who initially do not feel like participating in any optional active adventure farm activities, avoid wearing heels or flip flops. Please consider wearing comfortable shoes or boots as there is still a risk of injury due to the uneven farmland and grassy ground throughout the property if partying in heels. Refraining from wearing heels will also prevent the risk of damage to any of the rustic or natural venue grounds. Whether they are cowboy boots, regular gym shoes, Dr. Martin combat boots, Nike fashion sneakers, 'Hey Dude's,' Timberland's, Converse, Vans, Crocs, etc.
#3) Overall, don't stress about dress! - It is an autumn wedding, so dress like it! Guests are NOT expected to wear typical "wedding attire" as this is NOT a black tie event. Appropriate wedding attire examples are flannels, sweaters, fun patterned button up shirts, jeans, cargo pants, gym shoes, something comfortable that you would wear to any typical autumn fun farm! We want all guests to have a fun (& safe!) time taking part in any or all activities at The Gathering Barn.
#4) Farm animals WILL be on the venue grounds such as ducks, sheep, goats, rabbits, cats, etc. (they do have their own designated area in the petting farm), but if you have severe allergies to any animals or hay, please be aware of this and take proper precautions for your personal needs. We will have emergency over the counter allergy alleviating medication for anyone experiencing issues with unexpected allergies, but if you know in advance that you have sensitivities to anything mentioned above, please come prepared or let us know if you cannot attend.
There will be a variety of food options available for guests throughout the day; the various restaurants/food trucks that will be serving food are all listed out on the wedding day schedule tab! When you RSVP via this site, there will be a few questions for you to answer, and one of them is regarding food. Requesting specifically vegetarian food is a question that will be asked when you RSVP, and if you have any other concerns related to food, please mention them as part of your response to this RSVP question or reach out to Kim/Steph.
