On May 29, 2011, Kelsie and Kieran’s lives changed forever. They were 16-years-old and had both just finished their Sophomore years in high school. Kelsie lived in Southern California and Kieran in Anchorage, Alaska. Each of their families decided to take a week-long Mediterranean cruise on Royal Carribean’s Liberty of the Seas. It was Day 2 of the cruise. May 29, 2011. The Liberty of the Seas was docked off the coast of Toulon, France. Kieran was ice-skating on the ship’s ice rink when Kelsie stepped into the ice arena to try her hand at skating. Immediately, their eyes locked and it was love at first sight. Throughout the rest of the cruise, they were inseparable. On Day 5 of the cruise, Kieran and Kelsie shared their first kiss on the bow of the ship, Titanic-style. They exchanged their first “I love you”s that night as well. When the cruise came to an end, Kelsie and Kieran were heartbroken. They vowed to stay together and see each other again. And so they did. Over the years, Kelsie and Kieran would fly back and forth between California and Alaska to see each other. In between visits, they Skyped and ran up their parents’ phone bills. Thankfully, they had the blessing of their parents all along the way. Without that blessing, a long distance relationship between 16-year-olds would have never worked. In college, the distance lessened and Kelsie and Kieran would fly between Montana State and Berkeley. They spent one summer living on a boat together in Seward, Alaska. They spent one semester studying abroad together in New Zealand. Finally, when Kelsie graduated college in 2016, she moved to Alaska and the two began their lives together. In August 2018, after over 7 years of dating, Kieran finally popped the question! Now, along with their 3 beloved cats - Moose, Mozart, and Matzo Ball - Kelsie and Kieran have a wonderful life together. They are overjoyed to finally celebrate their marriage and spend the rest of their lives together as Mr. and Mrs. Braun.
