Flight
For those who prefer direct flights, fly into either Rome (FCO), Venice (VCE), Milan (MXP) as these offer direct flight options from Atlanta. However, if you don't mind taking a connecting flight, Florence and Pisa are the closest airport to Siena. We advise flying into Florence if you are already traveling within the EU (ex: Paris, London, etc.) There are trains from these locations to Siena, along with rental cars, taxi etc. Florence Airport (FLR): 1 hour from venue via car Pisa International Airport (PSA): 1.5 hour from venue via car Rome Airport (FCO): 2hr 51 mins from venue via car

Between the major cities there are innumerable stops at smaller towns. Train schedules are flexible and there are apps to keep track of your tickets and scheduling. Official train tickets for TrenItalia can be purchased through ItaliaRail. You will need to get off at the second to last stop, Alamanni- Stazione Santa Maria Novella. Florence Train Station to Siena: Once you get to Firenze Santa Maria Novella you have to take a different train to Siena via Trenitalia for a duration of 1 hour and 45 minutes. The wedding venue is about 20 minutes west of the train station. Rome Airport: Leonardo Express train to Roma Termini (30 min) to Roma Termini to Siena (3 hours)
Travel Note
*If you plan on renting a car, you will need an International Driving Permit (IDP). It's easily attainable online https://international-permit.com/en-us/idd/apply or at your local AAA office for less than $30. Holding an IDP along with your US driver's license & passport during your travels is all that is required to drive in Italy. *Car rentals at the Florence Airport are located at "Palagio degli Spini," connected to the airport by a free shuttle bus that runs every 20 minutes. The shuttle bus stop is inside the short term car park, just outside the terminal. *Firenze Santa Maria Novella Train Station: Car rental locations surround the train station such as Sixt, Hertz, and Car2Go. About a 5 minute walk from the station on Via, Borgo Ognissanti you can find Avis, Rental Plus, Auto One and more. *Taxis: You can request one via Uber in Florence. However, it is less reliable late at night and more expensive as you can only request Uber Blacks. If you need one, I suggest to book in advance. Download taxi apps, FreeNow or WeTaxi to navigate. Taxi charge is by the meter (city taxi) or by the trip (vans). Not all drivers accept credit cards.
