Today, the story of how we met might seem ordinary, an online date that turned into a forever kind of love. What makes it extraordinary, aside from it being José’s very first online date, is how quickly and deeply we fell in love. From the very beginning, we felt certain that God had hand-picked us for one another, filling our hearts with a quiet confidence that we were meant to be married. Every journey we had taken before, each with its own hurdles and blessings, was necessary to arrive safely in one another’s arms. What began as a simple coffee walk in Carlsbad quickly turned into three dates in our first week together, just before Kiera left to spend the holidays with her family in New York (and yes, she pushed her flight back one day so we could squeeze in one more date). From there, our story unfolded through shared adventures and time spent growing together. Over the past year and a half, our adventures have included regular surf days in Encinitas, exploring Mexico City, backpacking Yosemite in a hailstorm, trekking through Glacier National Park in the rain, losing luggage in Italy, frequent trips to Ojai and New York City, learning to ski in Mammoth, and eventually visiting San José del Cabo for a surf trip - where we fell in love with the town and knew it was where we wanted to celebrate our wedding. While our lives have been filled with travel and adventure, nothing has been more meaningful than finding our rhythm as a family with our sweet Penelope; going to church together, Kiera teaching her to love the beach and ocean, how to make pizza & cookies by scratch, and why we need to go on our daily digestion walks. We are so excited to continue building a life rooted in faith, love, curiosity, laughter, and growth - exploring new places, challenging one another, and becoming the best versions of ourselves together. We are beyond excited to celebrate this magical weekend with you. Having our loving community gathered together to celebrate love means more to us than words can express.
