Question

My U.S. passport is expired. How do I expedite my U.S. passport renewal?

Answer

Kevin went through this process last year to get his renewed passport as fast as possible. He got his in under 2 weeks! Your situation might not be under 2 weeks, but following these steps should assist in getting your renewed passport pretty quickly. For an additional $77.56, you save at least 6+ weeks in getting your renewed passport. 1. Visit https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/have-passport/renew.html 2. Fill out Form DS-82. 3. Mail in your recent passport (and any name change documents, if applicable). 4. Provide a photo that meets the photo requirements. 5. Pay the application fee, as well as the $60 expedited fee and the 1-2 day delivery fee for $17.56 to expedite the return of your completed passport. 6. Mail the completed application to the National Passport Processing Center in Philadelphia. Lastly, you are able to track your application status online free of charge for reassurance of knowing where your application is in the process.

Question

How to get an International Driving Permit for rental cars:

Answer

An International Driving Permit is highly encouraged for those renting & driving a car in Greece (and any other European country during your trip). The application process is relatively easy & pain free. Kevin did this recently at a AAA center for $20, and it was relatively pretty quick. Read AAA's website, https://www.aaa.com/vacation/idpf.html, for the step-by-step application process requiring you to: 1.) Fill out an application to submit at a local AAA branch office. 2.) Bring two passport photos with you. 3.) Bring your valid driver's license with you. 4.) Pay $20 for the International Driving Permit.

Question

Are there ride-sharing services (like Uber or Lyft) on Crete?

Answer

No, there are no ride-sharing services on the island. Please note we will have shuttle buses on the day of our wedding taking you to and from our venue to where you are staying. On other days, there are a pre-planned booking service, taxis, car rental services, and a regional bus to get around. In our research, www.WelcomePickups.com is a great pre-planned booking service to order drivers anytime of day or night, which can be especially useful for guaranteeing you will leave on time to go to or from the airport / ferry port and Rethymno. There are taxis, which are the most common service on Crete and can accommodate up to 4 passengers. We recommend renting a car, if you plan on exploring Crete. Lastly, the KTEL regional bus runs the green bus line along the northern coast to Rethymno and the airport cities; Heraklion and Chania. The bus line runs 16 hours a day and reliably leaves every hour. You can check times, durations, and pre-order bus tickets at www.e-KTEL.com.

Question

Do pedestrians have the right of way in Greece?

Answer

No, vehicles have the right of way. For your safety, always yield to vehicles before crossing a street. Also, look out for scooters as they have been known to quickly come out from narrow alleyways at pedestrians. If you are renting a car in Greece, be mindful of vehicles behind you when you enter areas with people walking around. Your knee-jerk response might be to stop for a pedestrian, which the Greek driver behind you thinks you will keep driving past the pedestrians. Tourist drivers have gotten into plenty of car accidents for this very scenario.

Question

What to know regarding COVID requirements?

Answer

We are elated to have guests joining us from the United States, Russia, the UK, and Germany. Unfortunately, each country has their own COVID guidelines for how to properly depart, enter, and return to said country, and the guidelines keep evolving with the pandemic. Please make sure to check the latest COVID requirements on your government's website prior to traveling internationally. For our American guests, the latest guidelines can be viewed on the website of the U.S. Embassy & Consulate in Greece at https://gr.usembassy.gov/covid-19-information/. We will continue to update this section on a regular basis as COVID requirements might change. As of August 24th, ... https://www.usnews.com/news/business/articles/2021-08-24/greece-announces-new-restrictions-for-those-not-vaccinated Greece requires proof of vaccination to sit indoors at restaurants, bars, & cafes. Make sure to also bring your passport or I.D. with you when you go out in public.

Question

Are our children invited?

Answer

Yes, we would love for your children to join us and celebrate with us in Greece.

Question

Can you tell me more about the wedding venue?

Answer

Agreco Farms is an authentic Cretan vineyard and farm, which was previously awarded the "best organic restaurant" in the world by Vanity Fair. This estate is set on a hill overlooking the sea and vineyards. Agreco Farms was delicately designed to balance the design of a small village amongst nature. The estate hosts a wine cellar, olive press, watermill, wood-burning oven, general store, workshop, mini zoo, and more. We will be saying our vows in front of the estate's very own St. Nicholas Chapel in the village square.

Question

What islands are closest to Crete?

Answer

The high-speed boats run a straight line to the Cycladic islands. The boats stop in: Santorini, Ios, Paros, and Mykonos. You can connect to different islands as well from these stops (e.g., Antiparos). Santorini is the closest Cycladic island (2-hour journey) and Mykonos is the last stop on the line (5-hour journey). The two lines are Seajets and Hellenic Seaways / Minoan lines. From what we've read, the Minoan lines are highly recommended. Additionally, for about 15 euros extra, the first class seat is well worth the money. You can also fly to many other islands through Athens.
