Do not rent your own car! It would be a bigger hassle. Instead, for a full days activity, hire a driver that will take you everywhere you need to go. The apps they use are Uber, Grab, GoJek. If you plan to be adventurous [at your own risk] and scooter around town, make sure you have your international license or cops like to aim at tourists to ticket. However, there are several areas of town that ban these apps; taxis are safe but make sure you settle on a price before getting in!
Not to Bali. Just make sure your passport is not expired :) Please research other countries for visas if you plan to visit countries outside of Indonesia.
Tetanus and MMR - Yes! These are recommended whether you're traveling or not, and should be recent within 10 years. Typhoid - Not necessary, but there is a higher risk of getting typhoid fever if you are going to be eating and drinking in the more remote areas of Bali. If you're sticking to hotels and resorts, you should be okay without this. Hepatitis A - Highly recommended for travelers to all developing countries, which includes Indonesia and Bali. This spreads through contaminated food and water. Malaria/Yellow Fever/Dengue Fever - Low risk in Bali, not necessary for American travelers
If you do decide to ride around in a motorbike/moped/drive a car, please be sure to apply for an International Driver's Permit. Many places will rent to you without an issue, but we heard that the police will target foreigners and fine you. You can definitely still rent a motorbike driver (GoJek) if you're feeling adventurous! https://driving-tests.org/beginner-drivers/international-driving-permit/
Please check the TRAVEL tab for updated information on where to stay. Feel free to contact Mary personally or at Bizi.Marvin@gmail.com if you need assistance.
Local BBQ Balinese buffet. Please alert us of any food allergies to tell the caterers. If you are not use to their cuisine, you might get an upset stomach; we recommend packing some charcoal capsules, Pepto and Imodium. Contact your physician for further advice!
Please note that at almost all the hotels depending on which Asian country, they will ask for your passport and make copies of them upon check-in. Some places [like Vietnam] even keep them upon check-in but you can avoid this by making photocopies of your passport in advance.
