It was a sunny LA Saturday in February 2014 and Sydney was invited by a friend (shoutout Karlee Ricks) to a party in West Hollywood. New to the city and eager to meet new people she agreed to tag along. Little did she know what a misstep this would be. The party was hosted by three dudes from SDSU who lived in the “Sweetzer House”. Kevin, the ultimate host, has no “recollection of meeting Sydney that day”. But they would soon become good friends. Over the years, there would be many Saturdays spent at the various LA establishments, sushi dinners at Hara and Echi, Sunday dinners and Super Bowl parties. Two years later Sydney was on the verge of moving to New York City and Kevin crashed an intimate going away dinner. As she and her mom were leaving, her mom asked “How come you never dated Kevin? He’s so cute!” Sydney laughed and brushed the comment off. However, the two remained close. The time change worked out in their favor as Sydney was often the only friend up when Kevin made his early morning commutes. Their conversations often centered around advice about each other’s dating lives. On a work trip back in LA, Sydney and Kevin planned to get dinner and catch up. Having both almost cancelled, they would later look back and realize that was their first date. After some long distance back and forth “work trips” they officially started dating in September 2017. Kevin then left LA and moved to Dallas which made long weekend visits from NYC much more doable. In Fall of 2018 they both moved to the Bay Area where they’ve been living ever since. With their beloved dog Beaux, friends and family around, Kevin proposed to Sydney on February 27, 2021 in Palm Springs (almost five years to the day that her mom made the outrageous going away dinner comment). Over the past few years Sydney and Kevin have loved traveling to Mexico and they couldn’t imagine a better place to celebrate the next chapter of their lives with their families and friends.
