Getting to Roche Harbor

After getting to Seattle, there are a number of ways to get to San Juan Island and Roche Harbor. We've listed the most common options below, but please don't hesitate to reach out to us with questions! While parking is free for guests at Roche Harbor, you likely won't need a car once you get here. Please consider carpooling or leaving your car at the Anacortes ferry terminal.

Flight

SeaTac Airport

For our out of town guests, the first part of the journey is getting to Seattle. If you fly into SeaTac, and do not want to rent a car, but want to experience the ferry ride from Anacortes, two shuttle services make the run from Seattle to the Anacortes Ferry Terminal. For more information on shuttles, visit here: https://www.rocheharbor.com/getting-here/#shuttle Those traveling from the Bay Area, Portland, or Phoenix should look at flying into Paine Field in Everrett or Bellingham.

By ferry from Anacortes

This is the most common and fun way to travel to San Juan Island. Anacortes is about a 1.5 hour drive from SeaTac. IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO DRIVE ONTO THE FERRY, PLEASE MAKE A RESERVATION IN ADVANCE. The first wave of ferry reservations will open at 7AM PT on May 3, 2022. The second wave will open at 7AM PT two weeks before your sailing date (i.e. July 30). The remaining spots will open 7AM PT two days before your sailing date (i.e. Aug. 11). Please arrive at the Anacortes Ferry Terminal at least 60 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time. Reservations must be made each way - to and from San Juan Island. Reservation page: https://secureapps.wsdot.wa.gov/Ferries/Reservations/Vehicle/default.aspx You also have the option of parking (paid lots) at the ferry dock in Anacortes, walking on the ferry, and taking a 20-minute taxi ride or shuttle from Friday Harbor to Roche Harbor. Flight

By seaplane from seattle

For a once in lifetime and scenic experience, skip the drive to Anacortes and board a seaplane to Roche Harbor Resort. Kenmore Air offers regularly scheduled services from Seattle directly to Roche Harbor Resort (via floatplane), as wells as other destinations on San Juan Island. For those flying into SeaTac International Airport, select either Boeing Field or South Lake Union as your departure airport and either Roche Harbor Marina or Friday Harbor Marina as your arrival airport. Kenmore offers ground transportation to Boeing Field (see "Ground Transportation" under the "Travel Info tab" or you can easily Uber/Lyft/taxi to the Kenmore terminal on South Lake Union.
