Like most modern couples, Bryan and Liz met online. Bryan had just moved to Seattle to start graduate school at the University of Washington. Seeing Liz was a fellow Husky, he reached out for a "tour" of UW. On August 12, 2013, they met for ice cream at Full Tilt beforehand where they got the same flavor. Liz got hers in a cup and Bryan got his in a cone. Bryan spilled his, Liz did not. Nearly nine years to the day of their first date, they're getting married.
Though not much of a planner (and never able to surprise Liz), somehow Bryan pulled off the most intimate, beautiful, and thoughtful proposal. A few weeks before Liz and Bryan were going to be in Seattle for Thanksgiving, Bryan had mentioned that his co-worker was having a holiday party the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Fast forward to November 30, 2019, Liz was getting ready to head out to the "holiday party" with Bryan when they got a call from Liz's dad, Jerry, asking if they could bring some tools down to the family boat. If you know Jerry, it's not weird for him to be doing a project on the boat in the cold Seattle fall. Coincidentally, everyone else in the family was mysteriously gone, so there was no one else to help Jerry. But, if you know Liz, she will do anything for her dad, so she grabbed the tool box and she and Bryan drove down to the dock. When they arrived at the waterfront, Liz and Bryan both got out of the car to walk down to the dock. As they got closer, Liz realized the dock was decorated with candles and flowers and her dad was no where in sight. Bryan, beyond nervous, quickly got down on one knee -- held the ring upside down over the water and forgot his speech -- but, luckily it was a quick "YES!"
