Please arrive between 3:45 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. with 4:15 p.m. being the latest! The ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST).
Our venue (for the ceremony and reception), Nagelkirk Gardens, is an outdoor venue with a tent onsite for reception events. Ceremony seating will be outside on the lawn a few steps away from the tent. If the weather isn't great (raining or golly-forbid, snowing) we'll go from there and update you all accordingly!
Formal (let's get fancy)! Please also bring a jacket or wrap/pashmina! June nights in the UP can drop to the 40s or 50s. It will get hot under the tent, but please dress in layers! Also, most of the venue will be grass so please wear shoes that you will be able to easily walk around in.
Due to the venue occupancy rules and to make room for as many people as possible, we are only inviting children who are in the wedding party or are direct first cousins/ nieces and nephews to the bride and groom. We hope that you will be able to join us for a date weekend in the UP!
We will have an open (but not full) bar at the wedding. Please bring cash to tip the bartender! Please also bring your ID if you plan to consume alcohol so the bartender can ID your age. Anyone without an ID indicating they are over 21 years of age cannot be served alcohol without risking the bartender's license. Drinks include three signature cocktails: one is whiskey-based, one is tequila-based, and one is vodka-based. There will be some beer and wine, and we will also have non-alcoholic options that include: water, lemonade, and a selection of soft drinks. Coffee and chai will be available after dinner/toasts. Last call for drinks will be at 10:00 p.m. as the venue will close to guests at 11:00 p.m.
If you are unable to get a ride back to where you are staying with a sober guest, please contact (or schedule ahead of time) Checker Cab. Checker Cab is the closest Marquette has to a taxi service. If you're hoping not to drive back to the hotel after the wedding due to having a GREAT time, Checker Cab has a couple of different varieties of vans and sedans available to ensure you have an excellent (and safe) time. As much as we would love for you to celebrate with us, we ask that you remain home to help yourself feel better and to avoid spreading illness at our wedding. We have added a virtual Zoom event for those who are unable to attend so you can be with us virtually for the ceremony!
While we appreciate your wish to help us keep within our venue occupancy, our guest list was chosen to include those that we know and love to join us in celebration and to witness our vows to each other. If you or someone in your party cannot attend, please RSVP "no" for yourself and/or that person. We would love for you to join us instead through the Zoom link!
We ask that guests put their phones (and/or other electronic devices) away during the ceremony and leave them on silent/off. We have hired a wonderful photographer to capture this very special moment in our lives. Also, when we look out to the people who are sharing the most important and intimate moment of our lives so far, we want to see your faces, not your devices. We hope you will respect and honor that intimacy. After the recessional (the bride, groom, and wedding party have left the ceremony), take as many photos as you'd like! We can't wait to join you for selfies! #loveatfirstsass
Emma Lindemann of Love + Lichens (http://loveandlichens.com/) is our wedding photographer! The photos you see at the top of each page of this website were taken by Emma during our engagement shoot in September. She did a fantastic job and we're so lucky that she's our photographer. There are also a few photos in our Pre-Wedding Gallery taken by our friend (and one of our bridesmaids!), Sabrina Langdon, of Sabrina Leigh Studios (http://www.sabrinaleighstudios.com/)! We're so lucky to have such talented friends and loved ones! If you're also looking for wedding photographers or any other kind of shoot (lifestyle, maternity, etc.) please see their portfolios through their websites!
