Sayulita

The Wedding Website of Kelsey Hannegan and Sam Garetano
This is a walk around barefoot with a beer in one hand and surfboard under your arm sort of town. You can walk across the entire village in 10 minutes; you’ll see horses cruising down the street before you see any traffic… in fact there are no stoplights. We hope you are able to come experience it for yourself!

Sayulita

Sayu (as the locals call it) is a small fishing village/bohemian surf town about 24 miles north of Puerto Vallarta in the state of Nayarit, Mexico with almost 4,000 people. In the 80’s and 90’s there was one dirt road, a couple of small palapa restaurants on the beach, and only two bars (just ask Mike Hannegan). Today, while Sayulita has become a popular tourist destination, it has maintained a sleepy small-town feel. The village has beautiful beaches, gorgeous sunsets, lush jungles, and a taste of small town Mexico in an incredibly safe environment. What Sayulita lacks in your typical mega-resorts, insane night clubs, and chain restaurants, it makes up for with cobblestone streets lined with shops, taco vendors, fresh caught fish to your plate, and colorful architecture. The charm of Sayulita is that it has remained a picturesque village, with the perfect balance of fun and relaxation.

Why Sayulita?

We fell in love with Sayulita before we even knew where it was. With our families and friends located all around the world, no matter what location we picked, it was always going to be a destination. We saw this as an opportunity to bring all of you together for one big fiesta (and to make lasting memories of course)! Like most great ideas, we were sold on Sayulita over a few drinks when another couple (thanks Megan and Cousy!) described their wedding there. They didn’t have to sell us too hard, but damn they were great sales people. We visited for a scouting trip and fell in love with this warm, sunny, tropical paradise. What we love most about this town is that it offers something for everyone. If you prefer a slower paced vacation surrounded by culture, food, and margaritas on the beach then this town is for you! But if you prefer to be adventurous and spend your days surfing or fishing and your evenings dancing the night away, then you will also find what you are looking for.
