This was easily one of our favorite tourist attractions! We highly recommend purchasing your tickets in advance—especially the fast pass, which is absolutely worth it. There’s so much to explore once you arrive at Morro da Urca, and don’t miss the second cable car ride up to Sugarloaf Mountain. We visited in the afternoon and stayed through sunset—the views were beautiful. Be sure to check their schedule too; they sometimes feature a live DJ at sunset, which makes the experience even more unforgettable!
This was one of our favorite activities while we were in Rio!
This is a hidden oasis with some of the most stunning gardens. There is a famous cafe on the inside that is worth checking out! If you are not a resident of Brazil you can buy your tickets on-site with a credit card, otherwise they take cash only. This is across the street from our Welcome Party! A fun place to check out before you head over for welcome drinks!
We loved going here - it is cash only but definitely worth it and a hidden gem! ! It is tucked away at the end of Copacabana Beach with breathtaking views of the coast and Sugarloaf. It is lovely to walk through and enjoy coffee or food at the cafe with views of the ocean!
Rio’s beaches are lively and full of local character, with the city and mountain views making them especially unique. Weekdays are your best bet for avoiding big crowds—try to go early in the day if you can. If you’re looking for something more laid-back, we recommend Leblon. It’s quieter than Ipanema and Copacabana, but still close enough to enjoy the energy of both. With that said, Ipanema and Copacabana are must-sees —they’re the most well-known/famous beaches and always buzzing and busy with activity. You’ll find plenty of vendors on the beach renting chairs, umbrellas, and selling cold drinks/snacks. If you’d rather not sit in the sand, the kiosks along the boardwalk are a great option—they have seating, food, drinks, and are perfect for people-watching or just relaxing with a view.
Shopping Leblon Mall is amazing!! There are so many great shops and restaurants. Definitely a must especially if you love to shop.
Below you will find our food and drink recommendations! There are so many great places to eat in the south zone. You really can’t go wrong if you are on Rua Dias Ferreira (Leblon), R Vics. Piraja (Ipanama), R. Maria Quitéria (Ipanama), or any Kiosk along the beach!
