FAQs

The Wedding Website of Kelly Carlson and Ronnie Dakake
We anticipated a few questions people might have about weekend festivities.
Question

Is there bussing if we are staying in Middletown?

Answer

We are still evaluating the need for transportation due to the fact that many of our guests are opting to stay within walking distance to our venue in small boutique hotels, air bnb's, etc. Middletown is, luckily, very easily accessible from downtown Newport, with the hotels in the hotel blocks each being only 10 minutes or less away. Uber and Lyft is abundant in this area, so rides should not be a problem.

Question

Where can I stay if I do not want to stay in a hotel?

Answer

There is an abundance of Air BnBs and also smaller-scale boutique hotels in the area, including the coveted downtown Newport. You may find these even more affordable than Middletown hotels we have blocked off. You'll want to pay attention to minimum night stays as that might dictate your options.

Question

Is the wedding kid-friendly?

Answer

Unfortunately no, but we can't wait to have some adult fun and dancing! We'd love to see the kiddos another time!

Question

Is there an entire weekend of activities planned?

Answer

We are putting together at least one planned activity for Saturday, July 2nd in Newport, and then plan to have the rest of the day loosely planned. Kelly, Ronnie and whoever is interested, will depart for Block Island by way of boats or the Newport Ferry on Sunday, July 3rd around 11 AM for three nights to celebrate the Fourth of July. All are welcome to join! Otherwise, we will bid the out of town guests departing on Sunday farewell before our Block Island departure. Please check back for updates!

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

If your invitation names a Guest, then yes, but if not, we would prefer if it was just you.

Question

Is there a possibility your plans could change in light of COVID?

Answer

This is a possibility for virtually any and all events and travel right now, so we thank you for your flexibility and willingness to "roll with the tide" on this with us. We will do all we can to keep everyone up to date on changing regulations, plans, requirements (especially for out-of-staters), etc. Please try to check back in the Travel tab on an intermittent basis or via the Facebook group for any developments. Note that we do not anticipate a second rescheduled date. We fully intend on keeping the July 1, 2022 date intact no matter what the circumstances.

Question

What if it rains?

Answer

All events will proceed in the event of inclement weather. The tent structure for the wedding is extremely safe and strong. The sides of the tent will be released and it will pretty much feel like you are inside! If needed, space heaters will be provided.
