Things To Do

Excited to share a few of our must-see places in the island with you! Beautiful sight seeing spots in Bali. A list of amazing things to do in Bali, as well as where to eat!

Pura Tirta Empul

Jalan Tirta, Manukaya, Tampaksiring, Gianyar, Bali 80552, Indonesia

A sacred spring running through this temple, Pura Tirta Empul is an important Hindu Balinese temple and is a place locals and visitors can come to for a spiritual cleansing experience. Indoor fountains divert water from the spring into a long rectangular pool which is the site of the cleansing. A note: as with most (if not all) temples in Bali; you will need a sarong to visit (though you can get one at the entrance if you arrive without one). Otherwise, be sure to wear pants/dresses/skirts that are longer than your knees. It is also good to bring a change of clothes if you plan on taking a dip in the fountain.

Tanah Lot

Tanah Lot

Beraban, Kediri, Tabanan Regency, Bali 8217, Indonesia
(0361) 880361

Set on an island-like rock formation, Pura Tanah Lot is one of Bali’s most important (and most popular temples). It can be quite busy sometimes; but in my opinion, it’s definitely worth visiting. Allegedly built by fishermen in the 16th century as a place to worship the 16th-century Dang Hyang Nirartha, this temple is one of 7 sea temples that are across the Balinese coast. If you’re into fantastic sunsets (who isn’t right?) then you should head over here in the evening as Pura Tanah Lot is a perfect location to get an epic view of the sun setting over the horizon!

Tegalalang Rice Fields

Tegalalang Rice Fields

Jalan Tegallalang, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80561, Indonesia

Take some time to relax and admire the greenery as you sit on a terrace with a glass of iced tea, iced coffee, or coconut water, and a plate full of Balinese treats. =) Lots of travelers visit these rice paddies, so be sure to go early in the day if you want to escape the crowds. Plus, you'd get to enjoy the early morning fresh air! The restaurants at the top of the fields offer fantastic views down at the fields; though a word of caution here—select your restaurants carefully. Restaurants with popular views in Bali usually rely on that (not the excellent food quality) to draw in customers and the food can leave a lot to be desired so do try to make sure you look out for one with great food to go with that great view. (I will look around and recommend some good options).

Mount Batur

Mount Batur

South Batur, Kintamani, Bangli Regency,, Bali 80652, Indonesia

When planning a visit to Indonesia’s most active volcano, there is no better time to go than at sunrise or sunset. Many tour companies offer day-trip excursions that last between 6 and 10 hours for a guided hike up to the volcano’s summit, taking in the volcanic activity as you go along and then back down for a meal at the base of your towering trek. At sunrise, the sky turns from black to inky blue to pink and orange. With the light, you can see how far you've climbed. Sitting on a stone ledge overlooking the village rooftops, sipping coffee and eating a sticky bun. Feet dangling into the air and the expanse of the valley stretches before you.
