HOORAY - the borders to NSW and Victoria will be open from 1st December! Thank you so much for your patience, we understand it has been very difficult wondering whether we would be able to go ahead or not. We look forward to seeing you there, let's party!
There are two stories about how we first 'met'. There is the actual first meeting where I had zero romantic interest in Tim, and then the second encounter where he managed to pique my interest. Our first encounter took place on a balmy summer's evening at med camp, where I happened upon Tim benevolently dispensing alcoholic beverages from a rooftop for his fellow party-goers below. I looked up, thinking, "Who is *that* guy?!"...and not in a good way. I thought nothing of it further until our second meeting when were back on campus. There was a group of us, all misfits from interstate who didn't know anyone in the tight-knit Melbourne crowd, and someone stuck up for Tim saying, "He's actually a really nice guy...once you get to know him". "Yeah, right", I thought. But I had nothing to lose and only friends to gain, so I gave him the benefit of the doubt and 3 months later we were dating. Six months later we were living together. Fast forward 6 years, 2 states, and countless memories - he really is every bit the nice guy I was promised and I've come to adore his, err, excitable enthusiasm and joie de vivre. Tim – I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you and look forward to all our crazy adventures together (maybe without the champagne showers from the rooftop at the wedding, though?).
Well, there's actually a third story that Annika seems to have conveniently forgotten. Probably because despite all the things I love about her, she can be a bit oblivious at times. I practically had to walk around with a neon sign above my head saying, "I LIKE YOU, WE SHOULD DATE" for those 3 months. I knew we should be together. All of our friends knew we should be together. Weirdly, even the staff at the University knew we should be together and would ask people why we weren't. The only one who wasn't at the party was Annika. Eventually though, I persuaded her with my endless wit and charm and here we are. Annika – I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you and I promise, no champagne showers...maybe!
Annika unknowingly thwarted many of Tim's attempts at a romantic proposal over the course of 4 months. The ring was sitting there in his wardrobe, making Tim sweat whenever Annika would raid his comfy tshirts. He finally managed to pop the question after a lovely dinner out whilst walking through the Botanic Gardens; knowing it was her favourite, he led her to a magnificent Moreton Bay fig tree bathed in the silvery glow of a midsommar full moon and proposed on December 22, 2018. After the initial shock when she said, "Huh? What? Oh, are you serious?" (after 5 years you stop waiting with bated breath), Annika finally said "Yes!" so Tim could finally stop sweating.
