Things To Do
Skunk Harbor Trail
A 2.8 mile moderate hiking trail. This is where Kealey's family often used to hike. Beautiful views of the lake, mountains and forest. The harbor is also where Tom McGray's (father of the bride) ashes were spread in 2006.
The Olympic Village
Home of the 1960 Winter Olympics! The lodging we're suggesting our guests stay in is part of the Olympic Village -- which has dining, bars, shops... and the historic Olympic rings themselves!
Olympic Valley Ski & Bike
Right next to the wedding venue! Renting bikes 365 days/year, 7 days/week.
The Squaw Valley Adventure Center- Ropes Course
The Ropes Course at Squaw Valley consists of 3 different towers reaching up to 50' and 2 circuit courses including a total of 8 bridges and 7 short zip lines. The Ropes Course is a mix of vertical climbing events along with a variety of bridges and zip lines.
River Ranch Lodge & Restaurant
The River Ranch Lodge & Restaurant is a celebrated landmark, a classic Alpine retreat perched on the banks of the scenic Truckee River. Just outside the area of Squaw Valley.
South Lake Tahoe
This is where the majority of your entertainment needs will be met! South Lake Tahoe is the most "tourist-driven" part of Lake Tahoe. It's full of casinos, hotels, dining, spas, and the Edgewood Golf Resort.
Heavenly Gondola
A 2.4 mile ride up in the Heavenly Mountain Gondola will leave you breathless as you take in panoramic views of Lake Tahoe. On your way up, stop at the Observation Deck for photos, a latte at Cafe Blue or a unique Heavenly souvenir at The Gondola Sports shop. Once you get to the top, head up the Tamarack Express chairlift with your Scenic Gondola ticket for some of the best views of Lake Tahoe and access to a series of hiking trails, ranging from beginner to expert.
Casinos
All the Lake Tahoe casinos are located on the Nevada side of the lake, so don’t plan on finding any slot machines in the Californian towns. You will, however, find these Nevada casinos in a variety of venues, including resorts, restaurants or just their individual establishments. Popular spots are Incline Village and South Lake Tahoe.
South Lake Brewing Company
South Lake Brewing Company is the largest production craft brewery on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe. They have 3 different spaces all on-site to enjoy their beer: a large beer garden, front patio, and indoor tasting room. They brew all of their beers on-site and offer a relaxed community-focused atmosphere to experience with your friends, family, and even dogs! They do not have a kitchen on-site but partner with food trucks and customers are always welcome to bring their own food in.
Emerald Bay State Park
Emerald Bay State Park is located 12 miles north of South Lake Tahoe. Vehicles cannot drive down to the lake, however, there are many vistas and hiking trails. One of the prettiest views of the lake!
Commons Beach
This is the closest beach to the wedding venue, but is one of many, many beaches on the lake that we would recommend checking out!
Lake Tahoe Cruises / MS Dixie II
Considered one of South Lake Tahoe’s most entertaining and affordable water activities. They offer daytime scenic cruises, and sunset dinner cruises. Experience Lake Tahoe on the water!
Tahoe Tastings
Midday, Afternoon, or Sunset Cruises around the lake that include sampling 8 different wines from various Northern California regions. Optional to add a charcuterie board ahead of time.
Wild Goose II Boat Charter
Wild Goose II is a 36-foot Grand Craft Commuter boat in the style and quality of the original wooden boat era. A smaller option for a boat charter that can fit up to 12 guests. Can be booked for private parties for 2-5 hours.
Hellman-Ehrman Mansion
A historic mansion on 2,000 beautiful acres overlooking the water. It reminds Kealey of the lodge in Dirty Dancing!
Alpine Fly Fishing
Lake Tahoe has some of the most beautiful fishing spots in the entire country -- Alpine Fly Fishing has the most knowledgeable guides in the Tahoe area. With over 40+ years of guiding experience as well as 60+ years of Fly Fishing between them, they have the insight, skill and understanding of how to teach fly fishers of all abilities in all types of water and conditions.
Lower Eagle Falls
Cascading waterfalls that empty into Emerald Bay. Hiking trails with beautiful views.
Vikingsholm
This magnificent structure, now a national and California landmark, is considered one of the finest examples of Scandinavian architecture outside of the Nordic countries. The property on which Vikingsholm is built includes 232 acres of Tahoe’s most beautiful vistas, the only island in Lake Tahoe, and the only waterfall that flows directly into the lake. It is a great destination for a day of sightseeing, hiking, boating, and swimming.
Sprouts Café
One of the most popular spots in Lake Tahoe that has been around for decades. Really fresh ingredients and a great spot for a healthy, satisfying meal. A McGray family favorite!
Heidi's Pancake House
A historic pancake house that Kealey's dad used to take her to. A very cozy vibe! Signature pancakes, fluffy 4-egg omelets, fresh roast coffee, eggs your way, crispy bacon, locally made sausage, home fried potatoes, fruit waffles, stuffed crepes, skillets, burgers, salads, sandwiches…they've got it all!
Lone Eagle Grille
A rustic ski-lodge vibe with really nice views of the lake and amazing food! It's right across from the Hyatt, which has other fun things to do (outdoor fireplace, etc).
Crazy Good Bakery and Cafe
There's usually a line, but it's worth it! Fresh baked pastries made daily. They work with local suppliers to source the freshest and most authentic ingredients, and use old-fashioned techniques to ensure the highest quality.
Wanderlust Yoga Studio Squaw Valley
This yoga studio is located right within the Olympic Village shops, and has some incredible mountain views. A great place to sweat and de-stress while you're in town.
