Jason and Kayman originally met at St Paul Board Game Group at Bad Weather approximately 4 years ago when both attended the meet up group. Jason had been attending the meet up group regularly for the last year by then. It wasn't until winter of 2018/2019 that Kayman became more of a regular member of the group. They started to hang out outside of the group in June 2019 for a baking day, Jason's birthday, another mutual friend's birthday party and a 4th of July party. Their first date was July 5th 2019 to the movie, Avengers: End Game at the Burnsville theater. Kayman thought upon meeting Jason and deciding she really liked him that, wouldn't this make a super cute meet story if they got married! They said I love you to each other in September 2019. They dated all of 2019 and decided to move in together just before February 2020. They spend the pandemic locked in together with their ever growing hobbies. Kayman with crocheting, and playing around with her new cricut machine and Jason with gardening, tech and his newly acquired 3D printers. They played board games weekly throughout the pandemic and continued to work, Jason newly working from home and Kayman continued going in to work at Primrose School of Eagan. Keeping busy they did their hobbies, virtual baking days with friends, game nights with friends, hiking and camping in the summer. In winter 2019, they went to Eau Claire, WI to their first bed and breakfast and relaxed with massages, breweries and games. Then, July 2020, they ventured to Bayfield, WI to another bed and breakfast, Apostle Island boat tour, and hiking. They made a tradition of going to a Bed and Breakfast around Christmas and their first date anniversary, July 5th. After playing a new game Parks, from GenCon 2021, they decided it would be fun to visit as many National Parks as possible. So instead of finding a bed and breakfast for winter 2021 near MN, they went to their first National Park, the Coastal Redwood Forest in northern CA. They arrive in San Francisco 12/19 and after seeing a friend for brunch make their way up through wine country and stop at a bed and breakfast for one night in Mendocino, CA. Then, they drove up to the Redwood National Park area, stopping to see some redwood trees on the way. The morning of Dec. 21 they headed north to find a park they could hike and see the redwoods up close. They stumble upon Prairie Creek State Park and part of the Redwood Forest National Park. They took the Cathedral trail, and got a little lost on the second trail coming back. They felt it was a magical place with it raining and the fog rolling through the trees. It made them feel as though they were in another world where dinosaurs or dragons might appear any minute. Kayman found a group of redwood trees in a circle just off the Cathedral path that had a center you could walk into. She took a video of her surroundings and some pictures. When she turned around Jason was on his knee with a ring in his fingers! He asked her to marry her and proceeded to tell her how much she means to him and how much he loves her. She absolutely said yes and returned the feelings! They took some photos and continue on the path where they ran into another couple who offered to take their picture. Upon learning Jason and Kayman just got engaged, the couple gave them some marriage advice to work through the hard times and enjoy the good times. There will always be bad times in relationships, it's all about how you work through and deal with the bad times. Jason and Kayman decided to continue on their trip not telling anyone else of their news. This way they could concentrate and enjoy their vacation. Jason asked Kayman's father for her hand in marriage prior to their trip. They told their immediate families over Christmas, after they had returned from their vacation. Since then, they have been spending the majority of their time working and planning for their wedding and honeymoon to Iceland!
