How do most busy professionals in the Bay Area meet the love of their life? Sure, mutual friends or activity groups can sometimes work out, but most people meet on a dating site these days. That's what we did! We have OKCupid.com to thank for our love match! Kayce sent the first message and after a couple weeks of back-and-forth, David casually invited her to join his drinking/running group. Neither of us were fully prepared to fall in love, but it didn't take long to realize we had amazing chemistry. In July 2018, we made our relationship official and said 'I love you' for the first time. We moved in together in January 2020 and David popped the question at a cabin in Tahoe with several of our closest friends on his birthday weekend in June 2021.
We are so happy to announce our wedding! After some stressful nights and some deep-thinking about this auspicious occasion, we have decided that in order to be authentic to ourselves and our wishes, we will be having our wedding at one of our favorite places to visit in California: Mono Hot Springs! This will not be like most weddings, and some preparation is needed to ensure our guests have a wonderful time, but we will help with as much of the planning and preparation as we can!
Mono Hot Springs sits at about 6,500 feet in the Sierra National Forest. It's a 2.5 hour drive the from the closest city, Fresno, CA. It's quite a trek to get there, but we chose this for several reasons: 1) It’s a place that means a lot to us! 2) It’s basically in a national forest, which means we have the freedom to do what we want with our wedding (and party as long as we want!) 3) It will be an intimate gathering with peaceful surroundings. There are many hot springs, lakes, a river, and hikes in the area. The area has a quaint little campground and “resort” with limited cabins and other options to stay. Or...if any of our guests are really intrepid, they can drive up Edison Lake Road a little further to tent/car camp off the road at any dispersed sites available on national forest land (first come/first serve and absolutely FREE). This of course means there won't be any amenities that aren’t provided by nature (other than driving back down to the resort to use the restrooms, buy necessities at the general store, or fill up on potable water). But, there are definitely other accommodations, and we will help if needed! If you are an invited guest, please see our "Travel" tab for more options on accommodations!
