Hot in the sun, breezy by the ocean, humid but pleasant. Temperatures in February range from the low 70s to mid 80s and the humidity tends to be around 75-85%. Puerto Rico is much closer to the equator than the rest of the states, please be mindful of UV levels and wear sunscreen.
We have done our best to plan the weekend so that renting a car is not necessary to attend. Ubers are available from the San Juan airport and around the city of San Juan if you plan to spend time there before or after heading to Rio Grande for the festivities. At the time of writing this, an uber from the San Juan airport to the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar is $40 and takes about 35-40 minutes. We chose to do our hotel room block at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar largely because they offer airport shuttles. You can book these on their website and they are $40 per person each way. We will also be providing transportation to our wedding venue from the Wyndham and back on the day of the ceremony and reception! If you're planning to make a longer vacation out of this trip to PR for our wedding and travel around the island, we suggest renting a car as once you leave the San Juan area, ubers are a bit harder to come by, but if you're planning to mostly stay in the Northeast part of the island, ubers and taxis will work fine.
For our wedding ceremony and reception we are requesting semi-formal tropical attire. Think fun colors, florals, flowy skirts, and linen pants. Our venue is outdoors so please dress for warm weather and wear comfortable shoes! *Please see the schedule section of the website for attire for other weekend events.
We love the kiddos, but for safety reasons we cannot have them in attendance at the wedding ceremony and reception with the exception of children of our immediate family members. We understand that this may affect peoples' ability to make the trip to Puerto Rico for our celebrations and we apologize if this prohibits you from attending our wedding. If it’s within your budget to bring along a family member or babysitter on the trip to watch your kid(s) during the actual wedding ceremony and reception, please know your children and the caretaker are welcome at all events for the weekend excluding the ceremony and reception. The Wyndham is a large resort with plenty of activities for kids and a great kids club so there will be plenty for them to do at the resort! *If you have a baby who is still nursing please contact us directly and we will be happy to make arrangements to accommodate your family.
Island Time is real in Puerto Rico. You may experience longer waits for meals than you're used to Stateside. There is a more relaxed and laid back vibe which we hope all of our guests embrace! If you are in a rush or feeling hangry, please grab a quick snack at a kiosk or bakery. Panaderias are great options that sell pastries and sandwiches pretty quickly.
Dinner at the wedding will be buffet style with plenty of options to choose from! There will be vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. Please let us know if you need an additional accommodation.
We wish we could celebrate with everyone, but due to venue limitations we are not able to accommodate additional guests at this time. Please restrict the attendees in your party to those listed on your invitation.
Puerto Rico is on eastern standard time, however they do not acknowledge daylight savings time, so for half of the year there is a time difference of 1 hour and our wedding falls within that half of the year.
