Typically in early August, the weather in Marquette is very favorable. The most sun we get all year, and minimal rain but Marquette is a windy harbor town and we suggest all of our guests pack for pretty much anything (besides snow- that IS NOT possible, despite what you hear about UP winters)! Our ceremony will be outside and our reception outside (but tented).
Yes, to both. The ceremony will be held at a reservable location in a public city park. While we do have dibs on the location we will be married- the rest of the park remains open so others can enjoy it as well! There will be shared parking available at the ceremony site. Our reception venue is at a city-operated campground. There is parking available right next to our location and ample parking a short walk away at NMU properties (more on this closer to the event). Finding parking in Marquette is not an issue.
First and foremost: we want you to be comfortable. We are not suit and tie people, but if that’s what makes you comfortable by all means wear it! If we had to put a name on it we’d say, business casual. All we really ask is that you wear clothes. Remember that it is Marquette so the weather can have a mind of its own. Be prepared for anything (besides snow, thankfully that won’t happen quite yet) jackets, flannels, sweatshirts are never a bad idea to have incase the temps drop at night.
We have a shuttle set-up to drop off our guests at both hotels where our room blocks are located (both the Holiday Inn and the Ramada). These shuttles will begin at approximately 9:30 pm until our reception concludes. Vehicles may be left overnight at both Tourist Park and the adjacent lot at NMU's Jacobetti complex. We strongly encourage all of our guests to utilize this shuttle if they plan to consume alcohol.
