Where to begin...I suppose you would have to go all the way back, the year the parents sent their respective children off to preschool, where they first met! Luckily they were in good hands: Kyle’s mom was their first teacher! In 2007 via handwritten note Kyle told Katlyn he “liked” her. Although Katlyn (for lack of a better term) pretty much blew Kyle off, she kept the note. In 2009 Katlyn and Kyle started high school, and that’s when the pair began spending more time together. They really were best friends (AND NOTHING MORE, if you were to ask Katlyn) but they would attend each others sporting events, hang out all the time and had the same friends. After a year or more of being asked “so are you two a couple?” on September 9th of 2010 they decided to change their titles to boyfriend and girlfriend and just see where it took them. High school came and went and both Katlyn and Kyle decided Marquette, Michigan and NMU sounded like it would be just the university and place for them. At NMU they made a multitude of new memories and met amazing new friends. They adventure in the northwoods, chase waterfalls and trails, and support each other in everything they do. The couple created a life together and have been living as yoopers for the past 7 years. Friends from college moved to other places in the midwest and beyond but this August was going to be special as the pair had planned “Cheboygan Weekend” where their best friends from college were all coming to Northern Michigan for a weekend of boating, beers and sunshine. It began as a perfect weekend and the majority of the first day in Cheboygan was spent on boats (one of Katlyn and Kyle’s favorite places to be). The gang was headed to the brewery for the evening but not before an impromptu photo shoot on the Kortz family dock turned into Kyle asking Katlyn to marry him! Surrounded by their best friends, the couple began their next great adventure- which they can’t wait to share with you!
