Katie and Tom met the modern way: by swiping right on Hinge in the Fall of 2018. However, it was not until after the holidays that they kicked messaging to the curb and finally met face to face. Katie and Tom chose to pay a visit to MadTree Brewing, where they ultimately ended up being politely nudged out the doors when they were the only ones left with the cleaning crew. Lengthy chats until closing time continued to be a pattern for their first few dates. Katie and Tom quickly hit it off with their similar interests of discovering new restaurants, binge watching Netflix documentaries, and cheering on their favorite sports teams, even when their opposing SEC schools battle (Go Cats and Cocks!). Some of their favorite memories from their time together so far include: testing new cocktail recipes during COVID, attending family and friend’s weddings near and far, returning to their favorite local bites (Skyline included), and annual trips to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Tom had two great opportunities coming up in early 2022 to finally pop the very important question to Katie. To celebrate Tom’s birthday milestone, the couple planned a ski trip to Steamboat Springs, CO, where Katie's Parents also got engaged at years ago. Around the corner from that was Katie and Tom’s third anniversary of their first date, which conveniently falls the day before Valentine’s Day. It was after a long day of work and a pint of ice cream for Katie when Tom eagerly snuck a handwritten card into her empty suitcase, which was still empty hours before their early morning flight. After encouraging her to start packing for probably the fifth time, Katie finally found the note. Before she could realize it, Tom was down on a knee in the apartment they share. It was the perfect and unexpected start to an incredible trip for the two. They were joined by Katie's Parents and one of her Uncles on the slopes as they celebrated their recent engagement (and the Bengals Conference Championship game). As they continue to prove that Hinge is the dating app built to be deleted, Katie and Tom are ecstatic for their special day and cannot wait for you all to play a role in it. They look forward to celebrating with everyone in June of 2023!
