Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve
Fort Sheridan is an old military fort on wooded grounds with multiple ravines and bluffs. There are cool old homes on the property as well. You can also walk right down to a beach on Lake Michigan.
Lake Forest Open Lands Association
Lake Forest Open Lands has multiple locations you may visit. Spoiler alert: our wedding venue (Elawa Farm) is right next to the Middlefork Savannah. You could check out Mellody Farm as an alternative!

There will most likely not be time for a Chicago visit on wedding day (Saturday Oct. 5th) but if you wanted to go another day during the weekend or extend your stay, getting downtown is simple by hopping on a train at Lake Forest Train Station (Union Pacific North Metra website is linked here) . Once downtown, there are plenty of things to do: parks, museums, zoos, sporting events, restaurants, etc.
