Alex and Katie both attended Elon University for undergrad, graduating three years apart. They may not have met on campus, but still have Elon to thank for bringing them together. They both became active in the Elon alumni chapter in Washington, DC, and first met at a gathering there. Through mutual friends, they began to get to know each other. After some flirting and plenty of bad jokes from Alex, they began seeing each other. Unfortunately things did not work out that first time, and they decided to part ways during a road trip to Elon for homecoming (both would not recommend breaking up during a long car ride.) Three years later, Alex was visiting Durham for a wedding and decided to reach out to Katie. They met for drinks at Ponysaurus and the rest is history. Alex returned two more times to visit Katie, who agreed to road trip with him to his new city, Houston. That road trip went better than their last. Despite 1,000 miles of distance, a pandemic, and plenty of other uncertainties, Katie and Alex now happily share a home in Houston with their golden retriever, Tate. They've traveled to multiple countries, made memories with friends and family, skied a few mountains, started new jobs, and cooked many meals. They can't wait for marriage and all that comes after... maybe one day they'll even make it to an Elon homecoming together.
