The Indian wedding ceremony will be indoors, however, the baraat (groom's procession) will start outdoors (weather pending). The evening American ceremony will be outdoors, and the reception will be indoors. Ladies, please plan accordingly for your shoes, as we will be in grass for the American ceremony!
The Baraat is a joyful ritual that will begin our wedding day! Traditionally, the Baraat is a procession from the groom's hometown to the wedding venue (don't worry, we aren't making Varun ride down from Olney, just from the winery's vineyard). His family and friends lead the way with music and dancing. At the end of the Baraat, the bride's family welcomes the groom and his family in a meeting known as the the Milni ceremony, which symbolizes the unification of the two families. All guests are invited to the Baraat and should plan to arrive at the wedding venue in time for this fun event. We will have light refreshments available following the Baraat and before the ceremony starts. After the Baraat, please be seated in the ballroom NO later than 10:45 AM for the ceremony.
Yes! On this website, click on the TRAVEL tab from the menu where you will find information about the hotels and discounted room rates. We have limitied rooms available at our discounted rate, so please keep this in mind when booking.
We unfortunately will not be able to accommodate additional guests. Due to limited venue capacity, we can only allow the people named on your formal invitation. Your invitation will be made out to “Your Name & Guest” if a plus one has been given!
Please see the “Travel” page. We will have a smaller quantity of shuttles in the AM, for hotel guests only. We strongly encourage driving to the morning events if you are local and have a car, as we will not be serving alcohol, and you can leave on your own schedule. For the evening, we will have shuttles for everyone, as there will be alcohol served, and Ubers are difficult to get from the venue. Shuttles will drop off at the hotel blocks, and an after party location. If you’d like to drive, that is totally fine, and parking at the venue is free! You will not need to follow shuttle times and can leave on your own schedule.
Please see the “Guest Attire” page. The dress code on Saturday morning is traditional Indian or summer cocktail. We do not expect our guests to purchase anything new for this (!) unless you would like to. Please plan to wear what you are comfortable in. There are not many great rental places for Indian attire unfortunately, but some websites we have listed on our Guest Attire page have options at all price points if you'd like to dress in traditional Indian attire. The dress code for Saturday evening is black-tie optional. Our ceremony and cocktail hour will be outside, and dinner and dancing will be inside. August temperatures can range, but it's typically pretty warm, so please check the weather and plan accordingly.
Your presence is the greatest gift we could ask for! If you'd like to gift something extra, we've included registry details on this website. But please know that your love and support mean the most to us.
While we love your little ones, our wedding is an adults-only event.
Yes! Our venue has free parking. You may park overnight, at no cost, but must pick up before 11 AM on Sunday. Please let Katie and Varun know if you plan to park your car overnight, the venue will need notified on the # of cars that plan to park overnight. We strongly encourage everyone to take advantage of the shuttles we will have for the evening events running to/from the hotel blocks. Ubers are not easy to get in the evening from the venue and we do not want people drinking and driving. We are not serving alcohol in the morning, so if you'd like to drive in the morning, that is totally fine!
Of course! Please make a note when you RSVP and we will do everything we can to make sure that your allergies are accommodated.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate you if you RSVP late. We have a hard deadline and will need to provide our vendors and the venue with the exact number of guests by a certain date. While we will send out reminders, please be sure to RSVP as soon as possible.
We'd love all guests to join and participate in the Baraat, which will start at 9:45 AM! Guests to be seated NO later than 10:45 AM inside the Vineyard View Ballroom.
