Flight
Milan has the closest international airports to Lake Como. If you fly into Malpensa (MXP), you can take the train direct from the airport--it is very easy. If you fly into Linate (LIN), you can also take the train but will need to take a bus or a cab to Milano Centrale train station and depart from there. Alternatively, you can rent a car from either airport.
Train
From Malpensa Airport (MXP), the train takes about 1 hour to Como. Purchase your tickets at the station direct to Como Lago. You will need to transfer in Saronno (wait is typically 20-mins between trains). When you start to arrive in the Como area, there will be multiple stops starting with 'Como'--do not get off until the last stop, Como Lago! When you arrive, you will have two options: the bus or the ferry. For both, walk towards the front of the train to exit. Just to the left of the exit, you will see two bus stops--go to the second one where you will catch the C30 Bus towards Bellagio. Tell the bus driver you are going to Lezzeno, Aurora, they usually stop but do keep an eye out! The ride should be about 35-40 mins. For the ferry, head towards the water from the train station. Buy a ticket to Lezzeno. The hotel is about a 10-min walk from the Lezzeno ferry stop. Be careful as you will need to walk alongside a narrow road with speedy cars. If you are traveling from Milan-Linate airport or from Milan, then you will need to take the train from Milano-Centrale to Como S. Giovanni. From there, you can catch the C30 bus direct to Lezzeno.
Travel Note
Public transportation is reliable on the lake. However, you will be limited to the schedules of the bus and ferry. Both do not operate as often in the late evenings, meaning it would be best to stay in Lezzeno on the night of the wedding. If you choose to stay outside of Lezzeno, it is more convenient to stay on the same side of the lake. Cabs are available from Bellagio if needed, but there aren’t many. There is no Uber on the lake so plan accordingly. You can also rent a car. Do note, the roads along the lake are narrow and windy so please drive carefully and do not speed! You will need to share the road with the large busses, often requiring some mad maneuvering skills. Lastly, please be careful walking along the main street especially at night! The roads are narrow and, in some areas, dark. Cars are generally good at avoiding pedestrians but just be mindful crossing. Hug the sides of the roads when walking. Stick to the sidewalk if there is one.
