Both the ceremony and reception will take place at Windy Point Campground in Dillon, CO. There is not an exact address, but GPS will direct you to the site if you type in the name of the campground. It is off of Swan Mountain road and is easily accessed from any of the neighboring towns including Dillon, Keystone, Silverthorne, Frisco or Breckenridge. The GPS coordinates are: 39° 36' 28.0001" N 106° 2' 39.9998" W
Our style is anything from mountain chic to western to semi formal- so khakis and flannels are totally okay and cowboy hats + boots are highly encouraged. No blue jeans please. The wedding is at 9,000 feet, which means the weather can change quickly. Please bring layers so you’re ready for sunshine, chilly breezes, or a sudden temperature drop. The ceremony path is on dirt, so we recommend sturdy, walkable footwear (heels may not be your friend here). Most importantly, wear something you’ll feel comfortable celebrating, dancing and soaking up the mountain air in.
June in the mountains can be a little unpredictable- think warm sunshine during the day, potential afternoon showers, and cool evenings once the sun dips. At 9,000 feet daytime highs are in the high 60’s/low 70’s, while nights can drop to high 30’s/low 40’s.
Our venue is located at 9,000 feet above sea level. If you have any serious medical conditions it is best to talk to your primary care doctor before traveling to altitude. There are medications they can prescribe you to help you acclimate when you arrive. Here are a few more tips: Spend your first night in Denver, drink lots of water, and for the first 48 hours avoid excess alcohol and heavy exercise. Contact Kat with any questions.
We have the Windy Point campground reserved from June 18 at 2pm through June 21 at 11am. If you need camping beyond these dates we recommend Prospector Campground which is right next to Windy Point campground. You will need to make reservations for Prospector campground well in advance on recreation.gov if you plan to camp and stay outside of the dates above. Please bring your own camping gear! Everyone must provide their own sleeping bags and any other camping gear they require to be comfortable sleeping outdoors! There are plenty of spots for tent camping. There is no water available at campground, so you will need to bring your own water jug. If you want to cook food you will need to bring your own cooler and stove. Pack it in, pack it out, and use leave-no-trace tactics. There is a dumpster for trash at the campground. There are tables and a fire pit at the group campsite. There is no electric hook-up for vans or RV's. They need to be self-sufficient. If you have any questions please reach out.
We will provide the reception dinner on 6/19. Please be sure to bring your own food or snacks if you are camping/staying at the campground.
No, unfortunately there are no showers at the campground. You will need to get a hotel or Airbnb for showers or go to the Silverthorne or Breckenridge recreation center for shower facilities.
Swimming is not allowed in Lake Dillon Reservoir primarily due to safety concerns related to the extremely cold water temperatures, which are caused by the high altitude and snowmelt feeding the lake, making prolonged skin contact dangerous; Denver Water, which manages the reservoir, prohibits swimming and other water contact sports for this reason. Although you cant swim in the lake, paddle-boarding, kayaking, and fishing are allowed and you can access from the beach just below the reception site.
Guests will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the venue. Uber/Lyft are not reliable in our mountain town. Camping is available at the venue for free. Please plan accordingly if you would like to drink.
We have not reserved blocks of rooms at any hotel. We are offering a free camping option at Windy Point campground any days from June 18-21. Otherwise there are plenty of options for hotels and Airbnb’s in the towns of Dillon, Keystone, Silverthorne, Frisco or Breckenridge. See the travel tab for recommendations on hotels in the area.
Your presence truly is the best gift we could ask for! If you would like to give us something beyond that, we are requesting contributions towards our honeymoon in lieu of a traditional registry. Please see the registry tab for how to contribute through Venmo, or there will be a card box at the wedding.
We politely request no children attend the ceremony and reception. Thank you in advance for understanding.
We are not allowing additional plus-ones to our wedding, as we'd like to keep the guests list just to those who know us well. The name of every guest invited to attend is clearly listed on your invitation and no additional guests can be accommodated.
We absolutely adore dogs, but we’d like to keep our wedding itself pet-free. Pups won’t be allowed at the ceremony or reception. That said, if your’e planning to camp with us overnight and don’t have anyone to watch your dog, please reach out- we’re happy to chat and approve exceptions for the camping area.
