Question

What should I wear (women)?

Answer

Bright and festive color is always in style for Indian weddings. It is recommended to avoid red/pink tones at the Indian ceremony as this is typically worn by the bride. Like all fashion, there are many different styles to choose from and are ever changing. Lehengas and sarees are the most common options for women. 1. Lehenga (len-ga) A lehenga is a two-piece outfit that includes a top (usually cropped) with a full, high-waisted skirt. These trendy and feminine ensembles look beautiful in vibrant hues and are easy to move in. They are a great option for a sangeet function. 2. Saree (sa-ree) A saree is a long piece of fabric, often made of silk, that’s used to wrap around the body. These tend to be more traditional and are a great option for the Indian ceremony. 3. Churidar Suit This is a modern take on the more traditional Salwar suit. This is a dress/long shirt on top of a tight-fitting trouser or legging.

Question

What should I wear (men)?

Answer

1. Sherwani. This is a long coat-like jacket fastened with buttons. It comes to just below the knees, hitting somewhere high on the calf. It can be any color, plain or embroidered. A scarf is sometimes added to the jacket over one or both shoulders. The sherwani can be worn with tighter fitting pants or trousers called churidars. Try to get trousers that are somewhat fitted and avoid the "Aladdin pants." (Strongly recommended for Sangeet) 2. Kurta Pyjama. Good option for men who want to go with a simpler look. The loose fitting top and pants are cool and comfortable in warm climates while still looking fashionable and traditional. Due to the less intricate design, they can be a more affordable option. (Strongly recommended for Sangeet) 2. Suit. While traditional Indian clothes are encouraged, if that is not the look you are going for, a regular suit would work just fine.

Question

Do you recommend any sites for buying clothes?

Answer

Yes! I have included the few that I know. They vary significantly in price and quality. Would also encourage you to check out your local stores. It is sometimes the easiest and quickest option. Anticipate alterations with any purchase. 1. Etsy seems to be a popular choice with many affordable styles and colors to choose from. I recommend asking the seller for a photo of their actual product and look at the reviews. They often use stock photos that do not reflect the actual product. Be consciousness of fabric quality and fitting. 2. Manijassal 3. Carmanonlineshop 4. Azafashions 5. Perniapopupshop 6. Lashkaraa 7. Baraatbox

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

We love children (especially yours) but this is an adults only resort. We hope you choose to enjoy a few nights off from the kids and and join in the celebration.

For all the days along the way
