Head towards the beach cabana and follow the lights. What is a Sangeet? The word Sangeet (Sun-Geet) means music, but when it is used as a term to describe a celebratory event during an Indian wedding it translates to Music Night or Musical Party. This musical night is a celebration of the union of not only the couple but the bonding of both families. It’s usually held a day before the wedding. It is here the women will be given an opportunity to dive into the culturally rich art form of henna or traditionally called mehndi/mehendi.

Anand Karaj (Sikh Ceremony)

9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Resort Beach

Men can either wear western suits, traditional kurta pyjama or a sherwani. Keep in mind the weather. Women typically wear Lehenga or saree.

A Sikh wedding consists of different stages. *Baraat* is a celebration in which the groom heads to the venue accompanied by his wedding procession (close friends and family ) who dance and sing along the way. *Milni* is translated to "meeting of the families." The bride's family welcomes the grooms family as they reach the wedding venue by exchanging garlands as Ardaas prayer is reciting to bless the union. *Anand Karaj* refers to the main Sikh wedding ceremony. Anand Karaj translates to ‘blissful union’. A guru granth sahib (holy book) is brought out and the priest then recites ardas (a set of prayers) while the bride and groom are seated. *Laavan Pheras* are the four prayers that seal the marriage. The bride’s palla and the groom’s shawl/dupatta are tied together as a symbol of unity. They then take rounds around their holy book as the laavan are chanted. They exchange garlands and are then considered married.
