We met at a hospital in Newark, New Jersey. We joke because if you know the area, it's not the most romantic of places. For those of you who don't know, medical school consists of classroom study the 1st two years before you start rotating at different hospitals your 3rd and 4th years. Each hospital usually hosts students from several different medical schools. In our case, I was already on my rotation for 2 weeks and presenting a patient on rounds when Sim showed up. Apparently his first thought was "wow, that resident is hot." My first thought was - and 1st words to him were - "are you a 3rd year medical student?" (an insult for a 4th year student surely). From that point forward we did not speak for 5 days. I ignored his strange but attractive accent that he claimed was from Alabama. He slowly regained my attention by teasing me on my cafeteria food choices (I was on a budget!). I guess it worked because I was actually the one to ask him on a date at the end of that rotation. The rest is history from there.
