Katie & Ryan first met on Bumble in October 2017. Katie likes to joke that Ryan must have known even then that she was someone special to him, after he used his “one save” to extend the cut off time to “connect” when she had not replied within the first 24 hours. Our first date was originally a plan to meet up in Arlington for drinks, but Ryan cancelled last minute due to dog sitting for a friend. Katie, thinking this was already going nowhere, then decided to really test if this guy was truly interested by telling Ryan to join her to watch a Monday night Patriots game at Blackfinn sports bar. Ryan will say he only agreed because “the Steelers were on a bye week”, but regardless, he didn’t run kicking and screaming when he met Katie: fully geared in her favorite Tom Brady jersey. Katie doesn’t remember what the outcome or score of the game was, as she was so invested in her conversation with Ryan that she (shockingly) paid little attention to the television. However, she can still recall the shirt Ryan wore & how nervous he seemed the whole time. After the game ended, they both determined they weren’t ready to call it a night, and went for a walk before sharing a pizza at another local restaurant.
