Things To Do & Places to Eat!

Mexico City is an amazing city with so much to offer, from history to culinary gems! As most of you are very aware, we love a good adventure and perhaps more so, we love good food and drinks. We've listed some options for things to do while in Mexico as well as some favorite restaurants for you to try- have fun! And in the words of Nana Connie, "I like you brave" <3
Lardo

Lardo

6 Agustín Melgar, Ciudad de México, CDMX 06140, Mexico
, +52 55 5211 7731

Great spot for breakfast or lunch! They have amazing pastries and baked goods and have a walk up window if you're in a hurry or are looking for something on the go.

Contramar

Contramar

200 Calle de Durango, Ciudad de México, CDMX 06700, Mexico
, +52 55 5514 9217

A fan favorite recommendation from our very own Andi Dunn (formerly known as Pimentel!), which will not disappoint. If you're in the mood for seafood while in town this is your spot. Pretty laid back atmosphere

Restaurante Rosetta

Restaurante Rosetta

166 Colima, Ciudad de México, CDMX 06700, Mexico
, +52 55 5533 7804

A original rec from our friend Sethaly, Rosetta is one of our favorites. Once you get over the hurdle of being in Mexico and thinking that eating Italian sounds ridiculous, you will love it. This is a very reasonably priced (amazing!) meal in a super cool space that we highly recommend you try out! Michael and I came here in February and he ordered three rounds of the tamales, so if you go... be sure to throw some of those back for him hah

Panadería Rosetta

Panadería Rosetta

179 Colima, Ciudad de México, CDMX 06700, Mexico
, +52 55 5207 2976

Another great spot for coffee, pastries and baked goods. You can never have too many!

Los Compadres Taquerias

Los Compadres Taquerias

Right around the corner from Casa Decu with great and quick tacos. We recommend the al pastor, which is a classic mexican option. Start slow with the salsas, they pack a punch

Maque

Maque

C. Ozuluama 4, Hipodromo, Cuauhtemoc, 06100,

Probably our FAV coffee and breakfast spot in Mexico City. There is almost always a line outside but you can skip that line and walk inside to the counter to order coffees and pastries to go (para llevar...)

Mari Gold

66A Calle Gobernador Protasio Tagle, Ciudad de México, CDMX 11850, Mexico

A new favorite breakfast and lunch spot! Kind of a hike from the hotel but we’ll worth it… we recommend trying the sabudana vada and the molote tikki- both are out of this world flavors and must try’s if you make it there! Finish the meal up with the papaya 🤩

La Docena

La Docena

Really awesome oyster bar with great mezcal cocktails! Huge open garage door seating inside with a great patio as well

Mendl Delicatessen

Mendl Delicatessen

Amazing traditional mexican breakfast in a super cozy spot

Vivo De Mar

Vivo De Mar

If you've tried Contramar and want another fish option this is the place to go! A little newer on the scene but a terrific option if you're in the mood for a great seafood meal

Fonica

Fonica

A MUST try while you're here even if it's just for a cocktail! They're open for lunch and dinner but it's a Super cool and swanky spot that serves up unique dishes with really cool presentations. A new favorite of ours.

Masala y Maíz

72 Calle Marsella, Juárez, CDMX 06600, Mexico

One a of our all time favorite meals in Mexico City! This is a mexican + indian fusion restaurant, open for lunch and dinner. It's unreal, and honestly unlike any flavors you will probably ever have anywhere else. They don't seat past 6pm each day so we recommend going for lunch because it's unlikely you'll be able to get in for a reservation.

La Única CDMX

La Única CDMX

98 Anatole France, Ciudad de México, CDMX 11550, Mexico
, +52 55 5281 3650

While we haven't been to this location, we've been to the one in San Miguel and it's one of Michael's favorite meals "of his life!" Great food and amazing ambiance. Definitely make a reservation!

Pujol

Pujol

133 Tennyson, Ciudad de México, CDMX 11550, Mexico
, +52 55 5545 4111

You will all meet Mo at some point on this trip (or perhaps already have!) and he will undoubtedly tell you to plan a dinner here. It's his favorite, and for good reason. Pujol is a Mexican restaurant named by Wall Street Journal as the best in Mexico City. The restaurant is run by world renowned chef Enrique Olvera and it's just an overall amazing experience with Beautiful ambiance and food. We highly recommend making reservations (far in advance!)

University Museum of Contemporary Art

University Museum of Contemporary Art

3000 Avenida Insurgentes Sur, Ciudad de México, CDMX 04510, Mexico
, +52 55 5622 6972

Located on the outskirts of Mexico City proper, at the National Autonomous University of Mexico campus, the Sculpture Park is totally off the tourist track. Featuring a range of grand outdoor sculptures, the park is best explored by foot. The sculpture space, which looks like a giant crater, is one the top things to spot. It's built around lava (which can be seen in the center) and has wonderful views from the ledge.

Frida Kahlo Museum

Frida Kahlo Museum

247 Londres, Ciudad de México, CDMX 04100, Mexico
, +52 55 5554 5999

The museum, also known as "Casa Azul" for its shocking cobalt blue exterior, is where Frida Kahlo was born, raised, lived, and died. Visitors can take in a few paintings by Kahlo and her husband, Diego Rivera, in addition to other contemporary artists of their era. But perhaps more interesting is the voyeuristic window into their creative world. The home is carefully preserved and maintained; it's easy to image the spaces as they were during Kahlo's time. In addition to their personal effects and domestic materials, the collection of clothes and corsets Frida needed to support her body after her traumatic accident give an intimate look at the artist's daily struggles.
