We have a tradition that we learned from our friend Boyd where we keep a wine cork to commemorate special occasions. We write the date and location, and all attendees sign the cork. We started going through our corks when we were making this page... Sometimes it’s just the two of us on the cork- “Marble Room, 4/25/22. First day at TrueGreen. KL + MW”. Sometimes it isn't a big event, and the cork reads something like- "We survived the week" or "Just dinner, with great friends." Sometimes they're sad moments, made better by the support we have for and from all of you- "To Steve- 7/14/22," "To Ruffin- 11/28/20." More often than not, the cork is covered in all of your names and paying tribute to all of the growth and happiness that your lives add to ours. The "special occasions" span from “First fall Saturday of the Year!,” to “Su & Nu’s 21st birthday,” to “Lagow’s do Puerto Rico”. These corks took us down memory lane, reliving all of the experiences we’ve shared with you all since meeting- We have danced at eleven of your weddings since we met. We’ve traveled the world to see your beautiful faces and feel your love fill our hearts. We’ve had the privilege of meeting each other’s friends, and had the honor of watching those introductions turn into true friendships of their own. There’s hardly a person in this group whose life is not somehow reflected through this documentary of corks, and it has been our greatest joy to share these moments with all of you. This process brought two things front of mind… First, we are going to need some bigger containers for all of these corks, and Memaw is not going to be happy when she reads about how much wine we drink. Second, our love story would be nothing without all of you to share it with. Thank you for doing this life with us. Thank you for loving us, shaping us, challenging us, and most importantly growing with us. Each and every one of you is someone that we love, someone whose life and time on this earth is part of our love story. Let’s get to Mexico and sign some more corks : )
