One of our favorite restaurants in Watch Hill! Fabulous sunset views, whimsical, old-school interiors. Katherine's order: a dirty tanquerary with bleu cheese olives and the rigatoni formaggi. George's order: hendrick's up with a cucumber & orange bitters and the crispy chicken.
"The Annex" is near and dear to Katherine's heart: she worked there serving ice cream, popcorn, (and breakfast, back in the day) for nine summers. Still the best ice cream around (get the black raspberry chocolate chip, you're welcome) and delicious quick bites. We recommend getting a turkey or ham grinder and enjoying it on the nearby Bay Wall!
Hit up Tens for delicious sandwiches and flatbreads, and the best after-hours hangout in The Village.
For gourmet coffees, breakfast snacks, and pastries, check out Sift. Make sure you get there just before they open to skip the summer line.
A no-frills, classic, Watch Hill staple. Katherine can be seen here nearly every Saturday picking up a "Carousel" sandwich before literally sprinting to the launch boat for her race. If you're recovering from last night get their bacon ("or sausage" - George), egg, and cheese on a roll.
The best breakfast/brunch/lunch spot!
One of the most near-and-dear spots to the Snowdens - and George and Kath! If you're looking for some beach time, East Beach is our favorite - it's where we got engaged right in front of Holiday House! This beach on the Atlantic faces Block Island. Enter right next to Holiday House on Bluff Ave, the end of Manatuck, or off Niantic Avenue (the entrance Katherine grew up going to!)
If you're looking for softer waves, fewer crowds, birding, or a scenic walk, Napatree's your spot! A 1.5-ish mile barrier beach stretching into Little Narragansett Bay, we recommend bringing a towel and lunch over the dunes to the "Ocean Side" for a traditional beach experience. If you're a morning person, go for a barefoot walk along the "Bay Side" to see some rare birds, mussel beds, gorgeous scenery, and Kath's favorite Salt Pond at the end!
A fun "nightlife" spot in Misquamicut - highly recommend if you're at Pleasant View!
Dive bar meets surf shop serving up drinks and music until 11pm-1 am. Another go-to Watch Hill hangout!
George attended St. George's School in Newport, RI and we try to get up to Newport as much as possible! We highly recommend touring the mansions (the Breakers is a must-see, Marble House is Kath's fave), walking along the Cliff Walk, and shopping downtown. A quick, 45-ish minute drive from WH, it's a great day-trip option for those of you arriving to town earlier. We recommend grabbing a bite to eat at the historic White Horse Tavern, the Black Pearl, our favorite Clarke Cooke House, or fried clams at Flo's Clam Shack near the SGS campus. Get a drink at the Castle Hill Inn lawn and watch the boats go by!
We love visiting the nearby seaside villages of Stonington Borough and Mystic, Connecticut. Visit the Mystic Seaport for a look at a Victorian whaling village, grab a bite at Noah's, Bravo Bravo, or S&P Oyster. You really can't go wrong with any restaurants in either village!
A fabulous little coffee shop!
One of our favorite restaurants. If they have the burnt ends - get them!
A Snowden Sisters favorite. A local Italian restaurant with great pizza and pasta dishes. We recommend the potato pizza!
For anyone staying near downtown Westerly, Wilcox Park and the Westerly Library are a favorite morning walk spot! Grab a coffee and stroll along local flowers and fountains.
One of our favorite restaurants in downtown Westerly!
A fun restaurant with craft cocktails and delicious bites. We love the deviled eggs and unique cocktails!
They say you've only seen half of Rhode Island if you've only seen it by land! If you're looking to get out on the water for a few hours, charter cat sailboat, Trim Again, or motor yacht, Encore, with Jack Spratt! A local historian and master yachtsman, Captain Spratt will guide you around Watch Hill's waters and give you some enlightening tidbits as you take in the sights. Be sure to ask him about the history of North Dumpling Island!
