"Hi, are you single?" Katherine and George met at the Mayflower Society Ball. Katherine instantly spotted George chatting with another man in the bar room. In a fit of uncharacteristic boldness, Katherine approached George and asked, "Hi, are you single?" To which George cautiously replied: "yes." Katherine then followed up with, "great. Are you here with anyone?" George looked to the man beside him, who jumped in and said, "no, no he isn't." "Good," Katherine said, "then, do you want to dance?" George nodded, taking Katherine's hand as they went out to the dance floor. Only there, did Katherine learn that George was on the junior committee by way of Anna Rich, filling in as a last minute escort for one of the debutantes, and had been chatting with the deb's father. The pair quickly realized they were both Episcopal, had ties to Rhode Island and the New York Junior League, played tennis, and golf. George’s willingness to crash the Yorkville ball and end up at Dorrian’s following Mayflower, further enticed him in Katherine’s eyes. That night, George deleted his dating apps and told his parents about the ‘Junior League girl’ he had spent the night dancing with, and stalked Katherine through his mom's NYJL directory in case she didn't text him. Rest assured, Katherine texted three days later. The couple plans to honeymoon in later 2025 after the Watch Hill-15 sailing season. They will embark on a mini-moon to their favorite, Bermuda, immediately following their wedding.
