Cal and Kate's story is one of modern love as the two of them met on the dating app Bumble. Cal had recently moved to Northern Michigan and Kate was looking for a fresh face in her hometown. They went on their first date to a local restaurant in Traverse City and haven't looked back since. From the first date, they both knew they had met "the one". Early in the relationship in August of 2021, they took a trip to the Upper Peninsula where they hiked to Chapel Rock and Chapel Beach, a lovely spot along Lake Superior. That day, they took a leap of faith by jumping off the Pictured Rocks together into Lake Superior. The day was beautiful and everything lined up perfectly, as a boat below offered to wait for them and drive them back to shore.

Flash forward to August of 2023, when Callum proposed along Lake Superior on the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in the exact spot they jumped that first month of dating. They hiked to the spot with both of their families and were greeted back on the beach after the proposal with champagne toasts, rock hunting, and a dip in Lake Superior. Like the first time they were there, the day was perfect. It was warm, the sun was shining, the water was crystal clear, and the skies were blue.
