Camp Margaritaville has 3 pools, including 2 swim up bars. There is also a hot tub to melt away any residual hangover from the night before. Please don't forget to wear sunscreen... although crawfish and crab look delicious when they're bright red, you might not have the same appeal. Plus health and whatnot.
If it is a rainy day, there is a big arcade and go-carting race track, also right next to Margaritaville
Right near Margaritaville (you can reach it via gulf cart) there is a long walking trail with dinosaurs. Good for kids and good for getting your steps in
Get yourself a little sneak peek of where the after party will be. Come hungry and ready to move and groove to Zydeco music (a combination of Cajun music, blues, and Afro-Caribbean music, usually featuring an accordion and a washboard). Cover is $10 and bottomless mimosas are $20 with music from 8:30 am - 11:30 am. Just remember to give yourself some time to rest and rebuild your appetite before the main event.
This one here is the local eatery, the Holy Grail of Breaux Bridge if you will. Don't wear anything that doesn't stretch or unbutton. Food from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. Saturday's menu is a choice of: Pork Backbone Stew, BBQ Ribs, BBQ Chicken, Stuffed Pork Chops, BBQ Ribeyes, Fried Fish, or Fried Shrimp... with a side of: Green Beans, Cheesy Corn Grits with Tasso, Fried PotatoWedges, Potato Salad, or Cole Slaw. (Hopefully they have gumbo for y'all, but it's seasonal, so you'll just have to ask).
This is the only thing on here we have not actually done, but we recommend it nonetheless because we love walking tours and we love eating delicious local cuisine. Count your steps but not your calories for this one.
Get a sneak peak of where the wedding will be by visiting our favourite swamp in all of Louisiana. See cypress tree, Spanish moss, gators, and more.
We didn't even know crawfish could be this good. When we say best in the world, we really mean best in the whole dagnab world. It's about a 40 minute drive, but worth every second. Make sure to get some dipping sauce. If you're still hungry on your drive back, stop by Billy's Boudin (there are about 4 in the region) and get yourself some Pepper Jack Boudin Balls, Seasoned Cracklins, or Chicken Cracklins if you want something "light".
If you head to Lafayette, there is a lot to see in this scenic small city. This market is open from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm every Saturday, and you can sample local products and food (and again, boudin). In Lafayette, there is also a brewery called Adopted Dog Brewery.
The first weekend trip we ever took together was to Arnaudville, and we ended up at this brewery near the bayou after missing our our planned sunset swamp tour. Go here if you are craving local beer and pizza. It is also possible to rent kayaks on Bayou Teche if you are feeling adventurous.
