Back in 2017, Katharine moved all the way to Santa Clara, CA, not knowing a single person. Luckily it wasn't long before she met Abe, because they were in almost all of each other's first year classes. They locked eyes across the Intro to Contracts lecture hall, and the rest is history!
A bit of background: Abe and Katharine both work for the same law firm, Gordon Rees. On December 7, 2023, Gordon Rees had its annual holiday party and let's just say a lot of fun was had. On December 8, 2023, Katharine wasn't feeling 10/10 but Abe wasn't going to let that stop him. After much convincing, Abe and Katharine went to "meet friends for a holiday espressotini" but really Abe was taking Katharine to a beloved spot to propose! Then the two really did go to meet their friends for a drink, but Abe surprised Katharine with an engagement party including family and friends from near and far (SF, Dallas, Austin, and Iceland)!
The stamps tell our story! Looking at the invitation envelope from left to right, the first stamp is Abraham Lincoln. It's probably obvious by now that the groom's name is Abraham, but if you didn't know, our dog is named Lincoln. Next we have a typical forever flower stamp because USPS requires at least one. Next is California, Abe's home state; then Texas, Katharine's home state. Under Texas we have an American Bar Association stamp because we are both lawyers, and met in law school. Finally, another flower, a cable car because we live in San Francisco, and grapes to symbolize our upcoming wedding in wine country!
