You caught us! This is a teeny town. There are cute shops downtown, and it's lovely to walk up to the Bixby Public Library, down to the falls and around the high school. There are phenomenal road biking routes that we'd be happy to point you towards.
We promise to have plenty of food before and after the ceremony! This list is for the people coming early/staying late who want to go on their own culinary adventures. Your choices expand the further you go from Vergennes as you head towards Middlebury or Burlington. 1) For breakfast and lunch, we strongly recommend Three Squares Cafe on Main Street 2) For dinner: Park Squeeze or Black Sheep Bistro 3) For a tasty snack: Vergennes Laundry or Olsen's Ice Cream (literally 200 feet from our house) 4) For a true culinary experience, try Starry Night Cafe in Charlotte. You will want to show up hungry!
1) Walking trails around Shelburne Farms: build your own adventure with easy trails criss-crossing a stunning property. Tour the barn with friendly animals and walk up Lone Tree trail for a stunning view of the lake. Easy to wander for an hour or three depending on how far you want to go! About 20 minutes away in Shelburne. 2) For a leisurely morning or afternoon hike (5 miles, 1000 feet), Snake Mountain is about 20 minutes away in Addison 3) For more challenging hikes, cross over Lake Champlain to experience the Adirondacks! Some of our favorite hikes (almost as good as the Whites) are over there and we would love to make suggestions.
Looking for some tourist shops, food options, or other human beings? We're only 30 minutes from Middlebury and 45 minutes from Burlington.
