Things To Know

The Wedding Website of Karla Gutierrez and Carter Cook
If you have any other questions or issues with RSVPing, feel free to text (or if you must, call) Kai at 321-318-9843 or Carter at 407-697-3331. We will not tolerate any transphobia or bigotry whatsoever at the event. We have a lot of people we love and care for that are trans and it is one of our highest priorities that they feel safe and comfortable at our wedding. Please be kind and respectful to each other.
Question

Who is Kai? Who is Karla?

Answer

Kai is Karla, Karla is Kai. Since I was little, I didn't feel like Karla fit me. It wasn't until I learned that I was nonbinary that I realized the reason why. In 2021, I decided that I would start going by Kai. It fits me 1000% better, I feel. I ask that if you knew me as Karla that you try your best at addressing me by name - Kai - at the wedding and for the future. Thank you.

Question

Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony and cocktail hour will take place outside in the courtyard. Once those are complete the party will move indoors for dinner and the reception. The courtyard will be available all night as a place to escape the music and get some fresh air.

Question

Does your wedding have a theme?

Answer

As you might have guessed from the invites, and photos, and website.. We aren't going for a traditional wedding. Kai has always been into all things creepy and scary and spooky and Carter loves all things nature and outdoors. Combining those gave us a spooky forest theme. Its almost Halloween so we'll be getting into the spirit fully with our wedding.

Question

What's the dress code?

Answer

We want you to be as authentically yourself as you can be. If you're comfortable, we want you to go all out. Think Met Gala. And not like Jared Leto or Zayn Malik. We're talking Zendaya or Billy Porter. We'd like our guests to stand out too so be as silly and eccentric and unique as your imagination allows. Keep in mind, it is a semi-formal event but otherwise have fun with your outfit.

Question

Can we take photos and video?

Answer

Absolutely! Take as many as you want! We do ask, however, that you are aware of the photographer at all times. Please try not to block them when taking your photos. The photos they provide will become our memories so we want them to be in the best condition possible.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Yes. The whole family is invited. Keep in mind with our theme there will be some low lighting, possible fog, and other spooky elements that the littlest ones might be afraid of. Nothing really scary since it's not a haunted house but please keep that in mind.

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

Yes. We have enabled plus ones for guests to add a partner, family member, or close friend to their RSVPs. If you have trouble adding a plus one to your RSVP, please contact us so we can sort it out.

Question

Will there be food and drinks?

Answer

Yes! We will have a cocktail hour with hors d'oeuvres followed by a buffet style meal. There will be both meat and vegetarian options but if you are vegan or have any other dietary restriction PLEASE let us know ASAP so we can accommodate you! Vegans will be provided a special plate but in order to have it, we must let the caterer know in advance. So, text or call us ASAP!

Question

Is there an open bar?

Answer

During the cocktail hour, yes. Afterwards, there will be a cash bar for those who wish to partake. Water, soft drinks, juices, as well as a champagne toast will all be complimentary.

Question

I heard your dog was going to be there?!

Answer

Yes, our monster, Opal, will be in attendance. She is our ring beast (read: bearer). It was important to us to have at least some our pets in attendance and figured Opal would fit the role of ring bearer well. However, while we know you may want to pet her and love on her we ask that you do not. We do not think she is dangerous, however, she is an extremely nervous dog due to being from a rescue and a quarantine puppy. She will be present for the ceremony and then promptly put away for her own peace of mind. She will need to be taken out of course so if you see her with one of her attendants, we ask that you ignore her and go about your day. We hope you understand.

Question

Where should guests park? Is it free?

Answer

Yes, parking is free. Upon arrival you will be directed around the back of the venue where you will park and then enter through to the courtyard.
