Karina and Tarik met just days after they moved out of their childhood homes and into the UCI dorms. It was the week before classes started and the night of the Yuna concert in Aldrich Park, Tarik and his friends were coming back to Gondolin, his university hall, to mingle in the common area where Karina was with her old High School friends that also lived there. Being the extreme extrovert that she is, Karina introduced herself and commented on Tarik's pretty green eyes. After kicking it off talking, playing Jenga, watching a break dance competition, and later a movie Tarik exchanged numbers with Karina. They quickly became inseparable and only a month later began dating exclusively. They found a mutual love for outdoor adventures and within the first year of their relationship they had been cliff jumping, sky diving, camping, and on countless dates. Tarik was an incredibly kind guy, a brilliant student, and had a shy disposition. Karina was outgoing, fun, and always seeking her next adventure. They were opposites, but helped each other grow and worked together to reach new heights. Tarik helped Karina focus on school and her career, Karina helped Tarik come out of his shell and find the joy in each day. They learned who they wanted to be as individuals and how they could help each other get there as a team. They now live in San Francisco together in a beautiful apartment, surrounded by a lovely community and wonderful friends. They visit their home towns and families as often as possible, but are enjoying their youth in a big city. They still try to do something fun everyday, go on trips and dates often, and have truly found their happiness together.
