We met at Le Saint-Sulpice in Montreal in August 2007, a few days before Marc’s 18th birthday and first year classes began at McGill University. We figured out that night that we both lived on the 13th floor of our dorm, just a few doors down from each other! It was true friendship at first sight, which then developed into many months of Karen stealing breakfast potatoes off Marc’s plate, which he only further rewarded by consistently bringing her samosas to the one and only class we ever had together. He truly knew the way to her heart. After a year of movie nights and adventures about town, it was at the same Le Saint-Sulpice that we finally confessed our feelings for each other. The 13 years since have always been an adventure - from our first trip together to Carnaval in Quebec City; to finding and sharing our first apartment together in Yangon, Myanmar; and finally road tripping from Detroit, Michigan to our current sunny home in Oakland, California. And because true love never dies, Marc continues to woo Karen with potatoes.

Three years ago, we were celebrating our 10-year anniversary and decided to ask each other to spend the rest of our lives together. We are overjoyed to have found each other and grateful to all our friends and family (that’s you!) who have shaped and supported us through everything. We would love to see many of you in April, and we also know that we are living in uncertain times. Whether or not you are able to join in person, we will be thinking of you with love and the next time we are able to see you, there will certainly be much to celebrate!
